How about the release of 5000 Taliban prisoners and remove most of the US protection force to destabilize a nascent governing body in a barely stabilized country?

How about making a deal with the Saudi's to limit petroleum supply to jack up prices? Not only does this benefit his petrol supporters but has the added affect of increasing transportation costs which increases food costs (among others)?

How about hindering any kind of transition efforts to hobble the incoming administration?

All three of these were done by Trump 1.0 just a few months before the end of his term. In business, this is called a Poison Pill deal. President-elect might not be savvy enough to actually create a successful business deal, but he definitely knows how to screw one up.

Trump Supporters touted the wisdom of electing an outsider and non-politician, but were "concerned" about the experience/qualifications of VP Harris?

I suspect you (or anyone else) would find it difficult to denigrate the decades of relationships with foreign dignitaries that President Biden has cultivated. His tutelage of VP Harris likely vastly outweighs anything that President-elect Trump will ever learn or appreciate. If anyone was considered "a joke" on the world stage, one only has to review the interactions of other world leaders with then President Trump during his first term. I wonder if President-elect Trump has learned ANYTHING from that experience.

It's not what President-elect Trump is promising now and that is the salient point.

If he's promising the same thing now as he promised in 2016 and the same tariffs were carried forward by the Biden administration, what makes this a new way forward in 2024?
For the record, some of the tariffs implemented by then President Trump's first administration resulted in disaster. The situation with soy bean farmers back then comes to mind.

However, what President-elect Trump is promising is much more extensive and larger tariffs. Few, if any, policy makers are promoting the elimination of ALL tariffs. As has been pointed out by several others, tariffs have a place and a purpose if prudently applied. The concern is that President-elect Trump, in general, does not exercise much wisdom and prudence. This is especially true in regards to his proposals for future tariffs. Historically, President-elect Trump has repeatedly acted like a loose cannon. Cannons serve a purpose; loose cannons are destructive. If we were dealing with a crazy uncle's rants or a drunk curmudgeon at the local bar, this would be a quaint/interesting discussion. That is not the situation we are dealing with. To not recognize the difference between the tariffs implemented in President-elect Trump's first administration with what he is proposing now, is quintessential gaslighting.

I've read quite a few recent comments regarding how non-Trump Supporters just "Don't get it".

This is a great example illustrating how Trump Supporters "Don't get it". The world has many folks who are not "nice persons". For the most part, those folks can be avoided or at least they are not in a position to spread their "not niceness" coupled with the power to harmfully affect very many people. However, that is not the situation with President-elect Trump. It's a mistake to believe the opposition comes from a simple disagreeable personality issue.

Of course they will. Did any reasonable person think they would directly pass on the cost of ONLY the tariffed items? No, they'll spread the cost of the tariff-increased items amongst all their other products to minimize the apparent impact. That's just Business 101.

Of course, a deluded person will think it's no big deal because it'll be a relatively small increase on any one product. However, a savvy person will be aware that the inflation rate (which is a calculated from multiple items) will increase and know the reasons why.

I suspect in 1-2 years, many will wistfully think about the current status quo. I, for one, will be as I'm doing much better since Biden was elected and am anticipating there will be unfortunate changes in 1-2 years. Quibble all you want, but my experience is not unique and is supported by multiple data sources and parameters.

Then again, who am I kidding? Many American have only a tenuous link between analysis and memories. They'll easily fall prey to anyone who says "It's Biden's fault". Gawd forbid they'd critically review their choices that got them to where they are.
