It should be obvious that what is terrifying is that ICE is above the law.

I suspect two things will eventually become public knowledge (after some effort to conceal them):

1. The estimate cost will greatly increase. It has already increased to $300 M. My guesstimate is it'll be $500 M.

2. The list of donors will shrink and/or they'll donate less than they have pledged.

At a time that the government is shut down and the wealthy are being given large tax breaks, this construction can best be described as a pathetic, shameful project.

That word was invented to promote expansion of housing developments to increase the availability of housing and thereby reduce its cost. Please explain how destroying the Rose Garden and expanding the East Wing into a Ballroom helps the housing situation in DC! Are you proposing those areas could be used by the homeless between patio brunches or ballroom cotillions?

More on point: those other renovations addressed a specific shortcoming. Besides the obvious placation of President Trump's ego (as if it were possible to ever satisfy that need!), what is the actual requirement being fulfilled?

This and the Rose Garden renovations are on a par with the renovations the British troops did in 1814.
