Donald Trump is making a new push to get his New York hush-money conviction tossed out after the US Supreme Court ruled that he has at least some immunity from criminal prosecution for official actions he took while president. The former president's lawyers on Monday took preliminary steps to request that a New York judge set aside the jury's verdict against him, according to a person familiar with the situation who declined to be identified discussing nonpublic matters.

You all are missing Boaz' point.

Boaz does not believe in democracy as you understand it.

He believes in the supremacy of the state, thus he is a republican.

A republican, ironically enough, in his mind actually being strongly anti-federalist.

Thus, when you argue that our democracy is under attack, in his mind he thinks "GREAT!"

Boaz, despite what would be considered inherent in an anti-federalist position, is not a strong believer in individual rights (except the right to bear arms).

Boaz, thus holds a weird permutation of antebellum beliefs, something that should have died in 1865.

Boaz, thinking the state is supreme thinks of the Presidency as an entity that should return power to the states.

But, Boaz is not a deep thinker. Boaz does not see the danger of an imperial presidency. Boaz cannot see beyond the end of his nose that the danger a ------- poses to his "state's rights" position. Boaz can only see a president that holds antagonistic views of the same people he does-LGBTQ, immigrants, poor people. Boaz does not realize that -------, like any good authoritarian, has zero core values and will do what he wants in the moment that he thinks is in his best interest.

Boaz cannot conceive how an attitude like that will bite his state's right's ass in the ass.

------- will use his power to infringe on the things Boaz holds dear at the exact instance it benefits -------. Say, for example, when his power is threatened by the 2nd amendment. Boaz forgets ------- saying the following "Take the guns first, go through due process second".

No, long story short, Boaz is right, you cannot have a conversation with him, because you misunderstand where he is coming from, and he is not intelligent enough to recognize the danger he is in.
