The latest spin from the WH about last weekend's shooting made the ICE/CBP shooters out to be Jack Friday, rather than Wyatt Earp, as seen in the videos. It ain't so. Dems in the Senate have little leverage to get what they want regarding de-funding ICE. Instead they should demand, among other things
-no masks, ever
-consistent uniforms, no cosplayers
-every officer has consistent badges, emblems including rank, and NAME TAGS
-everyone hired in the past 14 months gets re-trained according to standards in place during the Biden and Obama administrations
-all vehicles used clearly marked
-warrants for all detentions and arrests
-arraignment before a judge within 24 hours for all non-citizens and all citizens released immediately unless local law enforcement files charges
-supervisory reports filed daily, documenting arrests, use of force, use of crowd control actions and all discharged firearms

Of course, the MAGA functionaries will have big problems with this, since, well, that's how the police act...

I've been to El Centro, and it is a fitting place for a short guy with a long opinion of himself. Hell, one can even see the border from there. The fuss about the victim being armed while on the streets appears to me to be the first step in the confiscation of firearms in private hands. Open carry, unlicensed carry and ownership, and ownership of military-style and high capacity ammunition clips has been argued for by the Right and the NRA for years. And in a twinkling, the Trump Administration is laying down arguments against such situations. Federalist #46 put forth the argument of gun ownership as a check against tyranny (an interesting read, and I recommend it to all). Madison's argument is brought to the fore by those now calling for NO open carry, and NO high capacity ammo clips.

Gun owners: watch the video of those ICE raids. That could happen at your house, and sooner than you think. Your possession of a firearm makes you a threat to a tyrant...

This will not go far and will end in disappointment for Der Dotard. Being heavily regulated, commercial banks cast a suspicious eye on most of their customers because (1) they have to by law and regulation, and (2) shareholders require such for any institution which extends credit and holds customer deposits. In short, banks have to be careful.

Voters must make this happen, which in 2026 means getting to the polls and not relying on mail-in ballots. Funny how here in Ohio early voting is a real thing, with early in-person voting starting October 6. In Okiehomie, early voting is limited to three days the week before the November election. Last November the wife and I stood in line for four hours to vote early, finishing just before a thunderstorm blew in...
