An overwhelming majority of Democrats say they approve of Vice President Harris replacing President Biden atop the ticket if he decides to step aside, according to a poll released Thursday.
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi privately told President Joe Biden in a recent conversation that polling shows that the president cannot defeat Donald Trump and that Biden could destroy Democrats' chances of winning the House in November if he continues seeking a second term. The president responded by pushing back, telling Pelosi he has seen polls that indicate he can win, one source said. Another one of the sources described Biden as getting defensive about the polls. read more

"elites" in the Democratic Party who want President Joe Biden to quit the presidential race also want Vice President Kamala Harris off the party's ticket.
Then the Dems can say goodbye to the Black women's vote in every 2024 election and perhaps for the near future.
As I posted elsewhere at The Retort:
"1,400 Black Women Sign Letter Condemning Dems for Plotting to Ditch Biden [...] They reminded Democrats that their support is key, as Black women are the most consistent block of Democratic voters." www.thedailybeast.com Basically announcing that if Kamala isn't the nominee, they'll pull they're support in the general. Same situation Dems faced with (White?) women in 2016 if Hillary wasn't the Dem nominee.
And to clarify, these weren't random Black women. They were influential types, like the former mayor of Atlanta and a former US Senator.
This will guarantee a ------- victory. This will guarantee losing the Senate This will guarantee losing more seats in the House.[...] You delusional [...] did us in. [...] #6 | Posted by truthhurts
TruthHurts, Biden was already going to accomplish all of those feats if he stayed in the election. As pretty much every elected official told him, from Jeffries to Schumer to Pelosi to Obama. What the Dems have done is grasped a glimmer of hope. Worst case scenario, Dems end up where Biden was dragging them anyway.

It's going to have to be Kamala for Prez.

Interesting, and fairly thorough given the time and info available.. Not that it will convince the conspiracy theorists. www.msn.com

Joe did. But then it kept attacking his secret service agents. ("Bidens' dog, Commander, bit Secret Service personnel in at least 24 incidents, records show" www.cnn.com )
I don't think you understand what losing like 5% of the base will do #7 | Posted by truthhurts
Sure I do! But I don't think you understand that Biden stands to lose a part of that base as well if he insists on running. As demonstrated by the fact that his donations are dwindling. ("A well-connected advisor and fundraising coordinator for President Biden's campaign is reportedly warning that donations are at risk of drying up." www.msn.com ).
So 21% of the people you need won't support her. That is an amazing strategy right there #3 | Posted by truthhurts
I don't this means what you say. For example, two-thirds of Dems think Biden should step down (www.msn.com). But that doesn't mean that two-third of Dems "won't support [him]" on election day.
The MSM is not going to stop until Joe drops out. #4 | Posted by Alexandrite
It's more than that; donations have slowed drastically. Because donors, big and small, have better things to do with their money than burn it in honor of Joe's poor judgment. ("[Democratic donor and fundraiser] Jeffrey Katzenberg Tells Joe Biden That Donor Cash Is Drying Up As Concerns About POTUS' Age Grow" deadline.com ).
"The speaker does not want to call on him to resign, but she will do everything in her power to make sure it happens," one unnamed Pelosi ally told Politico, referring to getting Biden to drop out." www.thedailybeast.com

As opposed to being lead by a presidential candidate who freezes like a deer in headlights and can't think on topic for more than five seconds?
Yahweh-forbid that the Dems take into account that the public noticed the king has no clothes.
In terms of timing, apparently this meeting with Schumer happened shortly before the Trump rally shooting.

They are worried about losing both Houses of Congress. So, their jobs. #2 | Posted by Corky
I suppose that's one way to look at it, as at least some Dem senators and reps would lose their elections. But not Adam Schiff, Chuck Schumer, or Hakeem Jeffries. I think these folks, and most of the worried Dems, are more concerned about the harm that Trump could wreak when enabled by both a GOP Congress and SCOTUS.
