Biden has no choice but to help oil companies. His policies have been a mixed bag. And while I don't agree with everything Biden has done he did not do it for himself or to own the maga maroons. He did it for America.

Because America still runs on oil.

But like Carter he saw this was unsustainable into the future and tried to set into motion policies that will help curb greenhouse gas emissions and dampen demand for that oil.

He also agreed to things like the massive ConocoPhillips' Willow Project in the Arctic that guarantees future drilling on public lands.

Why would he do that?

Because America still runs on oil.

Even they claim regulatory burden is why wildfires are out of control.

Biden cannot personally prevent wildfires. Neither can Trumpy.

But Biden can and is cooperating with Newsom and is helping California with resources for fighting the fires and the promise of and aid for recovery in any way he can. Biden also was working on the underlying cause which is extreme climate change. What will Trumpy do about that besides lying and spreading misinformation and denying it is a problem?

What will Trumpy do after Jan 20th? We will see. But if his current statements are any clue then I bet it involves a lot of denial blaming and name calling and maybe even a little blackmail.

An increased danger of wildfires is NOT the only danger we face due to population growth and climate change. How is that rebuilding coming along down there in our Dick state of Florida after the recent hurricanes? Did they get all the houses rebuilt in the exact same spots where they were destroyed?

I doubt there is any "good place" (as in safe place) on any coastline of America to put a town these days.

Every city and town within miles of the coast and close to sea level is in just as much danger from rising sea levels.

But we will also ignore that danger until it is upon us, too.

I doubt there is any water system in the world that would be able to provide that kind of fire suppression capability.

I bet this one gets some major upgrades but even still it would still run out of water pressure under extreme conditions like these.

What bothers me is that if THEY can't be safe with all that money what chance do you or I have if things go badly where we are?

When I say they HAVE to be replaced I mean they will all need a place to live. They will need new cars clothes refrigerators washers and dryers and food. Etc. And not necessarily in the same places they were before. Though I would bet many will just rebuild.

If they recreate the exact same exposure in the exact same places then they are truly fools. But I would rather hope that they learn some lessons and apply them when rebuilding than hope they will be stupid enough to set themselves up to go through it all over again someday. You know. Like they do in Florida.

A clear case of "it takes one to know one"!

California is a huge state. There will be fires. Fires are a part of nature. You cannot prevent them all. You can become more prepared and more resilient to them and better able to manage them.

Fire prevention is a very high priority in California. But prevention of the underlying causes of climate change is obviously the higher priority and would make these extreme wildfires less likely and less severe and easier to manage.
