I went to college under the old GI Bill. The money would keep coming as long as you stayed in school and carried 12 units. Four of which could be "work study". If you got a degree then the money the money stopped. So I changed majors each time just before I would "graduate". Never did get a "degree" in anything. For ten+ years. It was awesome. Could study anything I wanted. All while advancing in my chosen career in computer science.
