Social media bans are seeing highly mixed results, with massive early crackdowns quickly giving way to teenage workarounds. Data from the first true test case-Australia's under-16 ban implemented in late 2025-shows that while tech platforms initially scrubbed millions of accounts, a majority of affected teenagers have easily bypassed the restrictions.
They already know about it and the more you make something taboo the more teenagers will want it.
When people feel their freedom or choices are threatened by rules, censorship, or advice, they often desire the "forbidden fruit" even more.
So yeah. Good luck with that.
