EVERYONE cares what Bell thinks here. They massively disagree with him but they do care...even if it's purely to argue against him.

That's why everyone responds to him and NOBODY responds to you.

You could try to make an on-topic comment specific to the issue rather than personal insults.

But officials did not describe any new enforcement mechanisms, saying only that plans would comply as a means of staying competitive.

They're still not.

And even those who have provided it haven't been required to provide it equally to physical coverage. Obamacare required it but it hasn't been enforced.

And it still won't be enforced.

Biden is hoping carriers will do it to remain competitive.......because they are acknowledging they have no enforcement mechanism.

And if people really really wanted these resources placed into their schools, then those resources would be in their schools.

Nothing is stopping a school district to place armed officers and mental health professionals in their schools.

Perfect example how people are NOT tuned into what's really going on in their local communities.

Rather than attend a local school board meeting and get some movement on these resources....they'd rather watch senators 1,800 miles away vote on something that wouldn't likely help them anyway.

I'm not finding any real data on this and I'm seeing where it's later in September when disclosures are due to be filed which means I suspect it will be later in October before we really know.

Forget Trump for a moment and tell me what should be his answer? What should a presidential candidate say about childcare and the challenges of affording/finding it?

For a long time we've baked child tax credits and deductions into the federal tax code....including the EITC which can result in zero tax liability and even money back. Without looking I'll assume Harris is suggesting an increase in the credit. It took a pandemic to get that done before and I'll further assume Trump supports some sort of increase in that credit as well.

We also allow for child care costs to be included in flex spending benefit plans allowing for the costs to be deducted.

What do you want a candidate to tell you?

Ask child care providers for work for less?

What can a candidate for POTUS tell you that you'd want to hear regarding a solution for this challenge?

And I agree....it IS a challenge.

But if you need to feel good about what Trump or Harris tells you about childcare then you're pretty ------ dumb in the first place....

There is another factor in play as to why lower income people aren't benefiting from this program.

Perhaps they just don't care.

Now, this is just my anecdotal story but here goes........

A couple years ago I tried to recruit a couple of my son's friends (travel team baseball kids) into his private school. Very middle class households.....none of the parents had gone to college.

The cost wasn't an issue......had that mostly handled.

The school scared the ---- out of the parents. It came with higher accountability, tougher expectations, and less tolerance for crap.

And it came with a strong expectation of parental involvement in many aspects.

They weren't having any of that. IOW, they didn't value getting a better education for their kids.

I saw a documentary pop up somewhere I didn't know existed...."Unfit".

It's 4 years old.....
