Trump framed the speech to shine a light on dems he knew wouldn't stand no matter what. He referenced guest after guest that it would look bad if dems didn't stand and applaud them.

I don't know if it's going to impact upcoming elections. we'll see.

This isn't a complaint about how Trump was treated. It's about what should be expected behavior at a SOTU.

Trump wouldn't care if paint balls where shot at the next president if he agreed with the shooter.

The State of the Union speech isn't required by the constitution. reporting on the state of the union is required but he is invited by the House to come and deliver in in person.

I don't care about the not standing up and I don't care if the president has to tolerate some interruptions. We interrupt him plenty of times for applause and he's fine with that so being interrupted with disagreement is fine as well as far as I'm concerned.
