Two union leaders and longtime Democratic National Committee members have resigned from the national party, marking the latest internal dispute of chairman Ken Martin's tenure. The departures of American Federation of Teachers leader Randi Weingarten and Lee Saunders, the president of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, comes as the party has tried to establish itself as a counterweight to President Donald Trump. Both Weingarten and Saunders had endorsed Martin's top opponent for the DNC chairmanship, former Wisconsin Democratic Party chair Ben Wikler. After Martin reshuffled top committee placements, Weingarten and Saunders were removed from the powerful rules and bylaws committee. Both were offered at-large positions but declined them. read more
Summer is just a few weeks away, and the signs are creeping in"particularly when it comes to men's clothing. You surely remember a photo of Harry Styles in Berlin wearing a pair of very short red shorts spreading across the internet like wildfire in April, indicating that inseams may be shrinking for yet another year in a row. (Last June, trendsetter Paul Mescal told GQ that he's "a big advocate for men wearing shorter shorts.") This season, men's bottoms are getting even smaller. Walton Goggins recently appeared on the cover of Cultured magazine, cementing his post-White Lotus sex symbol status in an electric yellow Speedo"an editorial moment perfectly manufactured for virality. Last week, Dolce & Gabbana dropped a campaign for its classic Light Blue fragrance featuring Theo James in what can best be described as tighty-whitey swim briefs, sunning himself on the rocky beaches of Capri alongside supermodel Vittoria Ceretti. Sex in advertising is back!
Mayor Karen Bass announced a curfew for downtown Los Angeles as anti-ICE protests continued on Tuesday. The curfew will begin at 8 p.m. tonight, last until 6 a.m. on Wednesday, and apply to one square mile of downtown L.A. Bass said she issued the curfew " to stop the vandalism, to stop the looting." "If you do not live or work in downtown L.A., avoid the area," Bass said. "Law enforcement will arrest individuals who break the curfew and you will be prosecuted." Bass said the curfew's boundaries will encompass the area encircled by the 5 Freeway, the 110 Freeway, and the 10 Freeway and end where the 5 Freeway and the 110 Freeway merge. Bass said people who live, work and credentialed media representatives have limited exemption from the curfew. Those experiencing homelessness are also exempt from the curfew, according to police chief Jim McDonnell.
