"If you believe I would let my dog poop in someone's yard, that pretty well negates everything else you assume you know about me."
It's a metaphor. Metaphorically speaking you're doing exactly that right now. You've admitted to it on this page.

"Oh, and they'd be holding up the Supreme Court nomination, until after the election. Because they want the people to decide, of course..."
Don't be ridiculous. They'd be holding up three Supreme Court nominations.

"The difference would have been night and day."
I really hate defending HRC most days but there really is no contest on this point.

"And I also think we should stop persecuting generation after generation of white people for slavery that happened 200 years ago."
155 years ago. Don't exaggerate. And there are still people alive today whose parents were enslaved. This isn't ancient history.

"I really don't understand why anyone wants to stand in line during a pandemic but I actually had conversations with several people trying to convince me that mail in ballots cause voter fraud even though there is no evidence to support that view."
For me it's not about fraud, it's about incompetence. It took me two election cycles just to change my voter registration to Democrat. They sent the form back unopened twice. I have zero confidence in NY's ability to count mail in votes. Early voting starts here on Saturday. I plan to go on Tuesday or Wednesday. Other states may have their procedures in place, especially states that only have mail in voting but Cuomo and the state legislature have not been instilling confidence on this point.

"We COULD be open right now if Trump had taken this thing seriously, encouraged people to wear masks and socially distance, and put in place contact tracing."
It would have required a national stay at home order, national mask mandate, temporary nationalization of the payroll, and at least double the unemployment increases. Had we done that we could have been out of this in two months and the immediate price tag would have been less than the damage we're going to be facing when this is all finally over.
Coming in the next few months we're going to see an explosion of evictions across the country because we're not willing to help millions of people pay the many months they're behind on their rent. Those same people are not going to be able to pass a background check with a recent eviction and employment gap on their record. There just isn't the political will, clearly not with the Republicans, but also with the Democrats, to really do what needs to be done. Biden is going to be dealing with this with both hands tied behind his back, and that's assuming he really understands the stakes. I'm not sure he does.

Indeed it does not. Correction acknowledged and appreciated.

"... we cannot rule out that causing the nation to lose faith in its institutions was intentional; Trump thrives on chaos and division and this may well have been his plan and not just terrible, cowardly governance."
It may be why Republicans got on board, that's true. They've been trying to defund the federal government for decades and the best way to achieve that is to undermine our faith in those institutions. But Trump? I really don't see evidence that he has the capacity to think on that level, especially when his behavior makes him look like an utter fool to half the country. And that half of the country are just the type of people he's always been trying to impress since he hit the papers in the late 70s early 80s. No, I think he's completely inept and in over his head but on occasion is encouraged in certain directions by the party leaders when they see that they can leverage his behavior for their own purposes.

My dad used to say about the Post that it's almost complete BS but it does have the best sports section in the city. We got the Daily News for the news and the Post for the sports.
You almost have to wonder if that wasn't by design. Get the meatheads to buy the paper for the sports section and then passively indoctrinate them with the front half, even if they acknowledge it's not exactly news over the years and decades it still has it's effect.

Dude, that argument is so comically desperate that you were probably better off not saying anything.

I'm asking rcade to reinstate the word that was moderated out in my post. Stick a couple asterisks in between the f and the k or something. It's highly important in context. Especially since most people aren't going to watch the video.

" Its currently the inverse of what it was in 2013, let me put it that way."
Obama was gonna put an end to the deep state cabals? I think I may remember some naive wishful thinking along those lines. But maybe a few years earlier than that.

So they bid on the contract and won. Now they are unable to fulfill the terms of that contract. I'm sure the only people who are surprised by this are the centrist folks who are still undecided voters.

"Well, ACA is all about health care being bought or sold."
That was the only way to prevent Senator Max Baucus from killing the Democratic coalition in support. We don't seem to remember that anymore.

So technically ballots would have to be reprinted with JFK Jr's name on it (invalidating votes already cast) and that probably could only happen after a legal process declaring him alive, and a lengthy criminal proceeding related to insurance fraud for faking his own death. Why don't these geniuses ever think things through?

" Nationalizing the pharmaceutical companies would lower prices on drugs significantly as well."
Back in July I watched a PBS Newshour story about how pharmaceutical companies are going bankrupt and pulling out of antibiotics development because there isn't sufficient return on investment. Apparently anything less than $10,000 for a single course of treatment is a money loser. The problem being that these drugs are only needed for weeks or months as opposed to many other drugs like those for diabetes or high blood pressure that are normally taken for the rest of a person's life. The reporter, Paul Solman, spent time reporting on how the best solution was a bill currently before the legislature allowing companies to raise their prices in some instances up to $1M. Not once did he suggest that the obvious answer was nationalization of healthcare and drug manufacturing. The story was so one sided. He interviewed venture capitalists and seemed to be really sympathetic about their inability to not make their money back. The reporting was really bizarre. Almost like Solman was planning to submit the story for his application at FOX News. That was on PBS. PB fracking S. Stupid lib'rul media.

As soon as they referenced the Discordian Operation -------- this all made so much more sense to me than it ever has before. Q, for all it's ridiculousness, is beyond the abilities of the every day Retorter, or most people actually, to dismantle. Or at least beyond the amount of time and energy most of us are willing to expend to do so. It requires being willing to reach out beyond one's own Overton window, and here that window is pretty small, being the group of mostly older, middle to upper middle class white guys that we are (handful of women and POCs not withstanding). This might be the most important story posted to this forum in a good while. I'm actually pretty impressed with FT for putting this story together.
Hat tip to GT.

"Qanon should not even be reported."
There is a difference between QAnon, which doesn't deserve the coverage in its own right, and QAnon believers who are now so numerous that it justifies the coverage of the things they believe.
