Cattle ranchers are in a tough situation referred to as 'better dead than bred', meaning they lose money building up their herds.
Herds that have been dwindling for a long time due to market conditions, climate change and natural disasters, and all the sheeot the rest of us deal with. And now this.
There are some benefits to living around more cows than people, like getting them at $7.50/lb cut and wrapped. Gotta buy at least around 100 lbs. It's still a jump from the $5-6 we were paying. We also quit getting a mix of grain finished in with the grass and went full grass finished this year. Grain finished tastes better. Grass finished is leaner so more healthy. It still tastes pretty good.
Bessent's pretentious and condescending way of talking makes this all the more cringe.
