But like most vaccines, there's multiple layers of protection that are the driver of their development and approval.

For COVID, serious disease caused by first time infection can cause permanent organ damage from first time infections (for COVID that can include specifically the heart for children, but for anyone you can suffer multi-system organ damage because of its tendency to cause vascular damage when uncontrolled) that might require hospitalization. We know that even mild cases can cause myocarditis in children, especially young males.

Now if you have a crystal ball that can definitively say which children are safe and which are not, your BS is palatable. Since you don't, you're arguing for a crap shoot with serious consequences for those who lose.

You're not a serious person and I suspect you're just sealioning.

This literally took 30 seconds to find not only published studies but also multiple study enrollment/description pages.

Those recommendations are clearly insane and influenced by the Dem panic/planned demic.

You're not asking the correct question, probably because you don't know what questions to ask.

We know that not only do coronaviruses change over time (like all other RNA viruses, in fact, they're even kind of slow as far as that goes...) but also that coronavirus immunity wanes faster than others. I don't think we fully understand why, but that is the case for other human coronaviruses and it was pretty accurate for COVID as well.

So, we actually end up with a two variable problem whereby the viruses are changing over time while our population level immunity wanes. Both of those add up to large outbreaks/epidemics at longer intervals than the typical influenza outcome of low level endemicity on a seasonal basis.

Again, we see that kind of cycle with the other four human coronaviruses that circulated prior to COVID.

A yearly boost (preferably with Novavax or other protein-based vaccine) would suppress one of the two variables by boosting immune memory. Whether or not it was an accurate enough prediction to be highly strain specific is another question but, at the very least, preventing the waning of population level immunity to minimize the development of large groups of naive or reduced immunity people to reduce the size of epidemics is not a waste of resources or money or time.

If you search you will find a doctor willing to give you an unnecessary vaccine shot, but you will have to pay the full cost for it.

It's no more necessary or unnecessary than a yearly influenza vaccine. Which is why I've been rooting for the Novavax version to be the norm and more widely available than the mRNA versions.

Do you know if the vaccine for the earlier, more deadly strains is still available?

Actually, this isn't really an accurate statement. Overall lethality was a wash because while Omicron had a case fatality rate lower than Delta, it was far more infectious and had a higher R0. Less infections but more "deadly" = more infections but less "deadly."

In any case, of course, it's not available. Every strain circulating now is descended from Omicron.
