I follow multiple news sources. All of which are across the spectrum of views and leanings in an attempt to hear all sides and extremes. From there I form my own opinions. Is that really that hard to follow?

Snoofy, I post here every day. This is not the only place I come to see the news of the day. I listen to content from producers across the political spectrum. To make the claim that I have my opinions fed to me is actually pretty insulting. I try to go out of my way to get a diverse set of inputs, and come to my own personal conclusions. Have I heard I didn't leave the left the left left me... of course. Was it a new thought to me when I did? Had the concept not already mind? Yes, it had.

Should it be discounted though? I don't know, there have been some pretty prominent voices who've said it. There are also others that have, but I can't find anything from them that dates back to their supposed liberal days. So these claims have to be taken with a grain of salt.

I don't agree with you on many points, not all I do agree sometimes... I don't see the need to reduce my disagreement down to me being fed my opinion.

We already know he was there to protest and interfere... So he should be arrested at worst. This information doesn't change anything.

Honestly reflecting on it a bit, I think the perception is more about the public than the actual politicians. The politicians pander to the base and that causes the pushback. I've never really been referring to the politicians or the parties but the public that identifies as their basis. And it is my fault that I didn't state or make that clear.

I said both were moving... you pushed back about the left NOT moving. The conversation went from there. I had already agreed to that, there was no reason for me to rehash it. You balked on the point about the left, so that's what we were discussing.

We are going to disagree on the effectiveness of some left policies, and that some of their unimplemented platform points being good or bad for the country, and if they have skewed more progressive from center left. It's a useless exercise. However I can concede the R's responses have not been any better.

On the topic though, I do feel that the majority of the moderates in the country feel that the lefts policies have become much more progressive and that the litmus test used by the left has become more extreme. You disagree, that's what makes the world go 'round.

I can't name any policies that you would agree harmed America, because you refuse to look at anything objectively. If it's left you agree, and if it didn't turn out well it was something else's fault, it could never be the policy. So why would I try?

#33 I know you don't think that a many of the policies the left backs is 'more left' than they used to be... But they got Trump elected. If you can step back from the state of politics, and take a hard look at the fact that people preferred HIM over the lefts policies you'd possibly see it. I don't mean all the left, I mean the extremes have gotten more extreme. The problem is they have gotten more vocal, and therefore garner more attention/blame than their parties deserve. I think the far left has been more successful at being 'heard' and skew a lot of peoples perception of the left as being more left than they are on the whole. But perception is king.

I don't know that I see it differently, and I don't really know this guys history or stance on issues. I have to assume that he's not into the fascists agenda though, and dropping out surely won't change things.

I wish I had the magic bullet and could say "we need to do x to achieve y"... But the right is so far right, and the left is so far left that we are stuck in a self feeding downward spiral of each party bringing out more and more extreme versions of their leaders to satiate the base.

The only way forward is for the moderate majority to stop supporting the parties. An R or D will still win the Presidency next go 'round, but it should be with minimal turnout. The parties need to get the message we don't like either platform and you need to change.

I was never a member of either party, My position is that no party should have any base or pre counted votes. If either party wants me to vote for it, present a platform I can back. They consistently do not. I live in a hard blue state, so I vote 3rd party in an effort to grow the % of people voting for neither. I also know this doesn't impact the outcome of the election.

This guy however is part of the party. Therefore should be working from the inside to do exactly what others like me are looking for, a platform we can support. Dropping out is the antithesis of what he should be doing if he wants to remain in politics and the R party. If he's going to change parties, that's another story.

Notice how I never called him a -----... My point was that just quitting was not going to make change, in fact he left a vacuum for someone to step into to do more of what he was against potentially.
