I do not disagree about that.

My point was, and still is, comparing the mostly peaceful BLM protests to the violent insurrection attempt on January 6, 2021 is a false equivalence.

And, yes, I do willing admit that some protesters in those BLM protests became violent. And also any person who assaults a police officer should face Justice.

But I just do not see the apparent need to place an equivalence upon protesting an unjustified death to an attempt to overthrow the Constitution.

I like the 18-year term aspect, because it does not align itself with the politics of the four-year Presidential cycle, and the Congresses that seem to come into power during that four-year cycle.

It is similar to the 10-year term of the FBI Director. An for similar reasons.
