Many families of all socioeconomic levels and political parties struggle with addiction and mental heath issues. Adults can't be forced to undergo treatment or take their meds. Your ignorance on this subject is mind boggling.

As the parent of a child with specialty medication needs, I lose my temper with insurance companies about once a month, practically on schedule. It has become almost impossible to get claims handled without raising holy hell. I save up all my problem calls, and try to handle them all the same day so I don't ruin the rest of my week. A whole lot of , "please escalate this to your supervisor", and what is your name, so I can add it to my letter to your corporate office".

Somettimes it takes hours on hold just to get past the script reading overseas call centers and into the US. By the time I get halfway into the day, the rage is getting real and you don't want to ---- with me. Full Karen mode on steroids. When I start getting loud,my partner will quietly slip in, delivering chocolate or tequila shots. I don't condone murder, but I can see how Luigi got to that point.

I've been retired for a long time, and we knew decades ago that "shaken baby syndrome" by itself was simply not provable. It IS a real thing, but it takes a lot of corroborating physical and circumstantial evidence to prove something like that, and in the criminal justice system, if you can't prove it beyond a reasonable doubt, it didn't happen. I have worked cases where I knew without question,min my own heart, that parents abused a child, but that is not enough to secure a conviction. In those cases all yiu can do is pray. This idoes not appear to be one of those cases. I pray that the family can heal from what the system has done to them.

Digging deeper into this story, I learned that this sad miscarriage of justice was perpetrated by a cast of inexperienced characters. Dr. Pham, the primary conspirator, was 1.5 years into his studies to become a specialist in child abuse pediatrics.His mentor had been a doctor for only 2 years, yet felt qualified to testify that child abuse was the ONLY possible cause for this baby's injuries. The police were from a 36 man small town police department that seldom investigates a homicide. What could go wrong.

Based on this story (and cautious to recognize it tells only one side) there is no probable cause or basis for prosecution of this man. Any experienced physician knows there are other possible causes of subdural hematoma than abuse. It was right for the medical team to report their suspicions, and up to the investigators to determine if there was additional evidence supporting a charge of child abuse. And there is usually a whole lot more evidence in actual abuse cases, once you start digging into it. It appears that they didn't find anything more, but the inexperienced investigators treated the inexperienced doctor's word as gospel and pushed ahead.

And who the hell is the judge who signed the warrant? Even when child abuse is a certainty, there is no probable cause for arrest without evidence of WHICH parent or caretaker inflicted the injury,

I have worked closely with the homeless community. 90% of the discourse on the homeless problem completely misidentifies the root causes of homelessness, and thus completely fails to result in real solutions, decade after decade. It is a weaponized wedge issue, and the victims never get any sustainable help.

I was taught to believe that Jesus was a helluvah nice guy even if he wasn't the Messiah, and never could understand why the Muslims hated us so much. I agree with your points. The first thing I do is look for the rest of the story The Rolling Stone article did not. The author put a human face on him but completely ignored the monster part. I'm not a big fan of the death penalty, but the Rolling Stone article was just bizarre. It suggests the men on death row are "frightened" victims of circumstance.. The author glosses over the fact that every person on death row has been accused of a heinous murder, unanimously convicted and upheld through multiple appeals.

The ACA was supposed to make health care more affordable by limiting insurance companyprofits and rebating excess proceeds to patients.
