"I know John Weaver will be a lifelong companion for them in the way Ray has been for me."
That's the way it works. Your abuser is always with you. In your most intimate moments and in your most mundane. Every day. And you'll feel guilty for thinking of them when the people you love most in the world should be your sole focus and priority. Therapy helps, and is essential, but there is no complete recovery. Survivors that tell you there is are usually trying to spare the feelings of those with whom they've shared the story of their abuse. Or they lie to themselves just to be able to keep going. People like Weaver ruin lives.
