NASA purchases SpaceX flights because the alternative is to buy Russian Soyuz flights.

NASA's Mars mission has been in development for 13 years, cost $26 billion so far, has no reusability, and has made 1 uncrewed flight.

Doesn't make the list of real problems. Groups can't buy homes in the burbs where Primary Residence rules exist, which are common to most HOA.

Before Biden, Trump, Obama, all the way back to Bush, same problem. The constraints are defined by geography, regulations, interest rates, increasing home insurance premiums, and building costs.

It's the same on both sides. LIHTC, NHT, selling fed property for housing development, both pledged deregulation, both "have expressed concern about institutional investors in the housing market", both pledged money for first time buyers.

The only real differences are one side floating rent price controls and the other floating the housing supply increase by mass deportation. Differences in GSEs and the role of the FHA weren't really expressed but would probably differ.

Given that they're far more similar than different in the supply increase mechanisms, if one fails then the other would also fail.

Which is absurd given GOP policy isn't going to meaningfully change that

Depends on what gets implemented. They just had JD marching all over the country talking about the issue and articulating solutions.

They were pretty much what the Harris campaign was saying after it dropped rent control, but with less regulatory burden.

It turned purple counties bright red and erased 2 decades of Dem gains here.

#56 partially. The Austin housing market is poised to give trumpers exactly what they wanted. Housing values are already down 20% off peak.

That big bump in appreciation is awesome when you're selling. In this stagnant Market everybody's just paying significantly higher property taxes without any change in rates to live in the same house. So they made sure to pass property tax relief two years ago so the state of politics could Dodge the bullet from homeowners. If you're not a homeowner, doom on you.

And then where the party of degrees in higher salaries so we're more insulated from inflation so of course we think it's great. The party of empathy has some major blind spots.

"Inflation is down" is meaningless when housing costs in cities like Houston doubled during the Biden Administration. Houses that were 200 became 400. Loan rates skyrocketed.

And this site had the bellwether. When Tony Romo starts posting about how bad it's not, it's really really bad and we're going to lose on that issue. Every ------- time.

And all of the Ted Cruz ads were hammering immigration and trans in sports.

The irony. The second third and fourth generation Mexicans that run my daughter's softball league are all conservative and would never allow a trans anything in the girls League. There's only two genders in softball.

Trump won by making the population feel there are unfair foreign influences in economics and immigration, and they're going to lift everybody as a population. It focuses on what's fair externally.

Democrats lost by making their message be about subsets of the population with really muddled messaging about lifting everybody up. It focuses on what's unfair internally.

Unity against external forces always wins.

After 4 years, the Biden-Harris administration is just now getting to dealing with price gouging.

They didn't do it because it's a stupid strategy that goes nowhere.
