Schmidt: Harris Should Leave 'Heel Marks' on Baier's Back

Political strategist Steve Schmidt suggested Vice President Kamala Harris should leave "heel marks" in Fox News' Bret Baier's back on Wednesday night.

"Tonight is the night to hold Fox News to account for all the damage and the lies," Schmidt wrote.

"The test for measuring up is going to be simple, and it directly involves the number of heel marks left in Bret Baier's back."

Comments

"Schmidt wrote in his newsletter, The Warning with Steve Schmidt, words of advice for Harris' "showdown" with Baier, whom he called a "preposterous figure."

He said the Democratic presidential nominee must speak to the public "about the threat the whole country faces from Donald Trump and his fascist movement."

Harris' interview with Fox News will be her first with the outlet that many people contend gives favorable coverage to Trump, her Republican opponent in the upcoming presidential election.

The interview is scheduled to air at 6 p.m. Wednesday."

Schmidt suggested that the Democratic nominee should embody former President Ronald Reagan in her interview while speaking "with firmness, strength, clarity and conviction about what Trump is, and the danger he represents."

"Tonight, Kamala Harris should look Bret Baier in the eye, and seize Ronald Reagan's mantle," Schmidt wrote.

"She should attack Trump as weak, immoral and degenerate. She should mock him as a laughing stock, and then quote the inscription on Ronald Reagan's grave."

Reagan's grave, which is in Bel Air, California, has a backdrop ensconcing the former president's tomb stone. It reads:

"I know in my heart that man is good that what is right will always eventually triumph and there is purpose and worth to each and every life."

"Yet Baier is also keenly aware of the network's audience, sometimes to his detriment.

Court papers in a lawsuit against Fox News for spreading false stories about an elections technology firm after the 2020 election revealed that Baier privately urged Fox's controversial " and ultimately correct " call of Biden's win in Arizona be overturned."

Harris Shuts Down Bret Baier as He Plays the MAGA Hits
www.thedailybeast.com

... The Fox News host opened his sit-down by hammering Harris on President Biden's border policies -- and asking her about crimes committed by migrants.

n a contentious interview with Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris, Fox News host Bret Baier spent no time going after the vice president with a laundry list of the subjects often highlighted by former President Donald Trump on the campaign trail.

Immediately after the interview kicked off, Baier opened by asking: "How many illegal immigrants would you estimate your administration has released into the country over the last three and a half years?"

Harris began a carefully worded answer, but Baier consistently interrupted her before she could finish a sentence. ...

Kamala Harris and Bret Baier Spar Over Immigration: 'May I Please Finish?'
www.newsweek.com

... Less than one minute into a highly anticipated Fox News interview, Vice President Kamala Harris and host Bret Baier got into a fiery back-and-forth over immigration.

Harris has dominated the media circuit in recent weeks, following criticism that she avoided the media early on in her campaign.

Wednesday's exchange became so contentious that Harris, the Democratic nominee, repeatedly had to ask Baier to let her finish speaking.

It started when Baier, the host of Special Report on Fox News, asked Harris how many undocumented immigrants she thinks the Biden administration "has released into the country over the last three and a half years."

"Bret, let's just get to the point," Harris said. "The point is that we have a broken immigration system that needs to be repaired."

Baier then cut in, pointing out that Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said that 85 percent of those who have been apprehended at the U.S.-Mexico border have been released.

"I'm not finished," Harris said while Baier was speaking. "I'm not finished."

"Let me just finish," Baier responded. "I'll get to the question, I promise you."

"I was beginning to answer it," Harris shot back. She went on to talk about the U.S. Citizenship Act of 2021, which President Joe Biden introduced on his first day in office. The bill died in Congress and never made it to Biden's desk. ...

She handed him his a ss and didn't even break a sweat.

There's going to be some terrific Harris ads coming from that interview.

She drew a real distinction between being a rational, feeling, intelligent, moral human being... and whatever Trump is.

Two comments at this point, based upon what i see...

1) Mr Baier was trying to ruffle VP Harris' interview with the continuing interruptions as she was trying to answer his questions. It did not seem to work.

2) VP Harris stayed on topic throughout the interview. Did not meander or try to "weave" some inexplicable word ramblings.

So, at this point, my view is that the interview was a plus for VP Harris.

"Harris did with Fox News what Trump can't do anywhere: Handle tough questions

Trump, by comparison, has cancelled a planned CNBC interview and refused to follow Harris' lead and go on '60 Minutes.'

Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris went into America's Den of Misinformation " Fox News " for a Wednesday night interview that demonstrated two things:

She has far more guts than her opponent, Donald Trump.
Fox News remains an arm of the Republican Party."
