... Former Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., on Thursday announced that he would withdraw himself from consideration to be President-elect Donald Trump's attorney general.

"I had excellent meetings with Senators yesterday. I appreciate their thoughtful feedback -- and the incredible support of so many. While the momentum was strong, it is clear that my confirmation was unfairly becoming a distraction to the critical work of the Trump/Vance Transition," Gaetz wrote in a post on X, just a week after Trump announced he planned to nominate Gaetz to the position.

"There is no time to waste on a needlessly protracted Washington scuffle, thus I'll be withdrawing my name from consideration to serve as Attorney General. Trump's DOJ must be in place and ready on Day 1," Gaetz added. ...

I guess the VP-elect Vance and fmr-Rep Gaetz visits to all those Senators could not garner the support needed.

Giggity!

I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall in Gaetz meeting with the Senators. I hope they blasted that scumbag right to his stupid -------- looking face.

I'm sure he'll get his reward position somewhere. That filth isn't going to just go away while there's high grift potential to be had.

#13 | Posted by jpw at 2024-11-21 01:07 PM

As I said on the other thread, this filth isn't going away. He'll just be shuffled into a different position as a reward for being a shameless Trump sycophant.

Pulls out ... It was right there. :(

What a riot. Congress wanted to get rid of Matt Gaetz; what better way than play to his ego?

Look for a new mug shot of his in 2025.

#16 | Posted by Danforth at 2024-11-21 01:32 PM

And will anyone on the right question Agent Orange about his reasons for nominating this PoS in the first place?

Orange knew exactly what Gaetz is.

And I don't doubt for a moment that the next nominee will be just as vile. Or that Gaetz won't still get some obscure position that doesn't require scrutiny, perhaps within the Trump crime syndicate.

Would you put it past DeSantis to appoint him?
Their senior Senator has a $2 Billion Medicare fraud judgement against him and he may become Majority Leader.

#32 | Posted by morris at 2024-11-21 02:51 PM

What became clear from his meeting with Senators is he didn't have the votes.

What else was clear is that the House Report and FBI and Police reports are going to become public one way or another, sooner rather than later... and he didn't want the momentum of that to get him in a Courtroom sooner.

I'm sure there's another Trump Loyalist who will put the President above the Law, and not hesitate to do things like send a Letter to the States saying Fake Electors were OK.

Trump hated it when the entire DoJ Leadership, his own appointees, threatened to quit to stop that Letter ever going out.

Anyway, one criminal down, many more to go.

After worrying that there would be no limits on Donald J. Trump's presidential power, on Thursday experts agreed that a robust guardrail does in fact exist: Venmo.

According to the constitutional law scholar Davis Logsdon of the University of Minnesota, "The framers of the Constitution could not have envisioned this, but our nation's most powerful protection against tyranny is an app."

Copy of document available at link:

Federal Inquiry Traced Payments From Gaetz to Women

A document prepared by federal investigators bolsters claims by women who say they were hired for sex by Matt Gaetz, President-elect Donald J. Trump's choice for attorney general, who denies wrongdoing.

Federal investigators have established a web of payments among Matt Gaetz and dozens of friends and associates who are said to have taken part with him in drug-fueled sex parties, according to a document obtained by The New York Times. . . .

The document obtained by The Times was assembled by federal investigators during a sex-trafficking investigation into Mr. Gaetz, who is President-elect Donald J. Trump's choice for attorney general. It shows how Mr. Gaetz and a friend sent thousands of dollars through Venmo to dozens of people who, according to testimony that is said to have been given to federal and congressional investigators, were involved in sex parties from 2017 to 2020. . . .

Titled "VENMO TRANSACTIONS BETWEEN ALL INDIVIDUALS AS OF 09/14/20," the document uses thumbnail photos of Mr. Gaetz, dozens of women and several other men to show how payments flowed between them. Lines with arrows connect the men and the women, showing, among other things, how much Mr. Gaetz and his associates paid the women.

"Matt Gaetz Drops AG Nom"and May Accidentally Screw Himself in Process

But Gaetz's confirmation seemed increasingly unlikely in the days since his nomination. He faced immense opposition from inside his own party at a time when any of Trump's nominees for his upcoming Cabinet can only afford to lose three Republican votes during their Senate confirmation process.

By Friday, estimates from inside the upper chamber predicted that Gaetz could face anywhere from 12 Republican "no" votes to upward of 30, reported The Wall Street Journal.

Gaetz resigned from Congress last week after his nomination was announced, abruptly crushing a House Ethics Committee probe investigating reports that Gaetz had sex with an underage girl.

He reportedly pulled his nomination Thursday just minutes after CNN reached out to the ex-lawmaker for comment on a bombshell revelation that the Ethics Committee had been notified of a second sexual encounter between Gaetz and the same 17-year-old.

'

In a statement following Gaetz's withdrawal, Trump said he had "much respect" for the Florida politician for minimizing the distraction and predicted Gaetz would have a "wonderful future."

Gaetz's withdrawal from consideration for attorney general now leaves him completely out of power. He could attempt to run in his district's special election to recoup his lost seat in the House, though it's unclear if doing so would reignite the Ethics investigation into his alleged misconduct."

The Question remains.... will Gaetz PAY himself to screw himself each time he screws himself?

Aw. I wanted to know more about "the sex competition" where Gaetz "created a game where members of the FL House got 'points' for sleeping with aides, interns, lobbyists, and married legislators."

Apparently extra points were awarded if they were married, or for "spending the night in a college sorority house."

Unfortunately RFK Jr. is so physically repulsive that a sex scandal is unlikely blic healthcare in the U.S.and with this Congress just being completely crazy isn't enough to disqualify a trump appointee from being in charge of public healthcare in the u.S. That clown will likely be approved even though he is bat s**t cray! but then so is the Orange Pedophile who appointed him strictly as a payback for help in the election and certainly not because he is actually qualified to run HHS. Watched his cousin, Caroline Krnnedy, y eI have about her lunatic cousitsterday who basically said the same thing soI'LL BE HONEST i AM SO GLAD i WILL ALWAYS BE ABLE TO SAY i DIDN'T VOTE FOR THAT PIECE OF FILTH.mOST FORMER bUSH voters now have additional shame to wear for the rest of their lives. If I had voted for Bush or Trump I would, at least, have the decency to surrender my voter's registration card but those lunatics will continue harming America in every election in the future! I must ask, why do they hate America so much? That assh88e will do much harm to many people from that position. Republicans are going to own this monumentally incompetent, unqualigied and mostly insane administration. God damn I miss Obama and Biden! Sanity and competence was great! but we won't see any of that for the next four years.Sardinia is looking like a good place to be for the next few years! I may just go buy a house for $1.00 and spend the next four years fixing it up. Fo more afluent folks there aew four year cruises available

"There's a four year cruise for those looking to escape Trump"

www.msn.com

"With approximately half of Americans unhappy with the results of the recent presidential election, numerous travel companies have decided to pitch viable offers to people who want to move abroad.

The second-largest airline in Canada, WestJet Airlines, published ads offering Californians "one-way flights to Canada" in the lead-up to Nov. 5 while British travel company advertised flights back to London from New York, Las Vegas and Orlando as get-out-of-USA-free flights."

Can't afford those choices but I can sell my condo here in Fort Lauderdale and move to Sardinia where i can buy a house for $1.00. The more I think about it the better it sounds to me!

The broken record never stops skipping. I have posted twice previously on this site, after each of the last 2 elections, how hypocritical and stupid both sides are. Every single election, every single staffing decision is demonized by the other side and some on their own side. Over and over and over and over and over and over and over and repeat for infinity.

That's all America knows how to do now. There is no fixing anything. There is no building bridges. There is no "wait and see if someone will be effective". Jesus himself could come down from the heavens and Trump could pick him, or Biden could pick him, or Obama could pick him...and the other side will find ways to demonize him. All because too many stupid people live in America who think arguing about opinions is more important than actually being effective.

I had to open this post without signing so I can read it since I plonk'd that account.

I don't see anything sensible about it. It's just more bothsiderism. It's acting like the reaction to Trump's picks is just politics as usual. From Gaetz and his cocaine fueled underage hooker sex parties to Linda McMahon who covered up abuse in the wrestling company she ran with her ex, to Hegseth and his sexual abuse allegations, to Oz and his scams to Pam Bondi to being a registered foreign agent, to Kennedy and his heroin conviction and just being utterly insane, what we are seeing from Trump is a series of picks who are either unqualified, criminal or compromised through some other manner.

If he were... politcal heaven and hell would have been moved to keep him there.

The left needs to stop hand-wringing because an election was lost... against a woman contender.

Trumpanzee is no stronger than he was the last time... when the old man came out of retirement to defeat him.

I remember when Turd2 thought he had a "mandate" and all branches of government.

" involved in sex parties from 2017 to 2020. "

DANNI

Gaetz may have bigger problems than just being unemployed.

He married his wife, Ginger, in 2021.

He withdrew to keep the truth from coming out.

Now that his wife knows, I wonder if the weather on the home front might have turned frosty. Even cringe/divorce worthy.
