... Former Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., on Thursday announced that he would withdraw himself from consideration to be President-elect Donald Trump's attorney general.

"I had excellent meetings with Senators yesterday. I appreciate their thoughtful feedback -- and the incredible support of so many. While the momentum was strong, it is clear that my confirmation was unfairly becoming a distraction to the critical work of the Trump/Vance Transition," Gaetz wrote in a post on X, just a week after Trump announced he planned to nominate Gaetz to the position.

"There is no time to waste on a needlessly protracted Washington scuffle, thus I'll be withdrawing my name from consideration to serve as Attorney General. Trump's DOJ must be in place and ready on Day 1," Gaetz added. ...

I guess the VP-elect Vance and fmr-Rep Gaetz visits to all those Senators could not garner the support needed.

Look for a new mug shot of his in 2025.

And will anyone on the right question Agent Orange about his reasons for nominating this PoS in the first place?

Orange knew exactly what Gaetz is.

And I don't doubt for a moment that the next nominee will be just as vile. Or that Gaetz won't still get some obscure position that doesn't require scrutiny, perhaps within the Trump crime syndicate.

What became clear from his meeting with Senators is he didn't have the votes.

What else was clear is that the House Report and FBI and Police reports are going to become public one way or another, sooner rather than later... and he didn't want the momentum of that to get him in a Courtroom sooner.

I'm sure there's another Trump Loyalist who will put the President above the Law, and not hesitate to do things like send a Letter to the States saying Fake Electors were OK.

Trump hated it when the entire DoJ Leadership, his own appointees, threatened to quit to stop that Letter ever going out.

Anyway, one criminal down, many more to go.

After worrying that there would be no limits on Donald J. Trump's presidential power, on Thursday experts agreed that a robust guardrail does in fact exist: Venmo.

According to the constitutional law scholar Davis Logsdon of the University of Minnesota, "The framers of the Constitution could not have envisioned this, but our nation's most powerful protection against tyranny is an app."

Federal Inquiry Traced Payments From Gaetz to Women

A document prepared by federal investigators bolsters claims by women who say they were hired for sex by Matt Gaetz, President-elect Donald J. Trump's choice for attorney general, who denies wrongdoing.

Federal investigators have established a web of payments among Matt Gaetz and dozens of friends and associates who are said to have taken part with him in drug-fueled sex parties, according to a document obtained by The New York Times. . . .

The document obtained by The Times was assembled by federal investigators during a sex-trafficking investigation into Mr. Gaetz, who is President-elect Donald J. Trump's choice for attorney general. It shows how Mr. Gaetz and a friend sent thousands of dollars through Venmo to dozens of people who, according to testimony that is said to have been given to federal and congressional investigators, were involved in sex parties from 2017 to 2020. . . .

Titled "VENMO TRANSACTIONS BETWEEN ALL INDIVIDUALS AS OF 09/14/20," the document uses thumbnail photos of Mr. Gaetz, dozens of women and several other men to show how payments flowed between them. Lines with arrows connect the men and the women, showing, among other things, how much Mr. Gaetz and his associates paid the women.

"Matt Gaetz Drops AG Nom"and May Accidentally Screw Himself in Process

But Gaetz's confirmation seemed increasingly unlikely in the days since his nomination. He faced immense opposition from inside his own party at a time when any of Trump's nominees for his upcoming Cabinet can only afford to lose three Republican votes during their Senate confirmation process.

By Friday, estimates from inside the upper chamber predicted that Gaetz could face anywhere from 12 Republican "no" votes to upward of 30, reported The Wall Street Journal.

Gaetz resigned from Congress last week after his nomination was announced, abruptly crushing a House Ethics Committee probe investigating reports that Gaetz had sex with an underage girl.

He reportedly pulled his nomination Thursday just minutes after CNN reached out to the ex-lawmaker for comment on a bombshell revelation that the Ethics Committee had been notified of a second sexual encounter between Gaetz and the same 17-year-old.

'

In a statement following Gaetz's withdrawal, Trump said he had "much respect" for the Florida politician for minimizing the distraction and predicted Gaetz would have a "wonderful future."

Gaetz's withdrawal from consideration for attorney general now leaves him completely out of power. He could attempt to run in his district's special election to recoup his lost seat in the House, though it's unclear if doing so would reignite the Ethics investigation into his alleged misconduct."

The Question remains.... will Gaetz PAY himself to screw himself each time he screws himself?

Aw. I wanted to know more about "the sex competition" where Gaetz "created a game where members of the FL House got 'points' for sleeping with aides, interns, lobbyists, and married legislators."

Apparently extra points were awarded if they were married, or for "spending the night in a college sorority house."
