GOP is Already Interpreting Trump's Explicit Statements

Donald Trump mused on Wednesday about the prospect of serving a constitutionally barred third term as president, though his Republican colleagues insist he was just joking.

"I suspect I won't be running again, unless you do something," Trump reportedly told his GOP colleagues in the House, as they met ahead of congressional leadership elections. "Unless you say, He's so good, we have to just figure it out.'"

Those in the room later said the president-elect was only kidding. The 22nd Amendment of the Constitution specifies that presidents can only serve up to two full terms.

"That was a joke. It was clearly a joke," Rep. Tim Burchett of Tennessee told The Hill. "I leaned over to somebody beside me, [Arizona Rep.] Andy Biggs, and I said, that'll be the headlines tomorrow, Trump trying to thwart the Constitution,' which " there's nothing further from the truth."

Does anyone seriously believe that Donald Trump won't do everything he can to remain in power until his death? I won't be surprised if he tries to get himself declared King and pass his title to one of his kids.

Trump's technique is to say such outrageous things as part of his "stand-up" comedy routine. People think that he is joking and laugh accordingly. However, Trump is dead serious. His outrageous statements are trial balloons to see what type of feedback he gets. If he gets laughs he keeps on saying those things; in effect conditioning the public for what's to come.

Two years. If he hasn't achieved dictator status by then, the American public will be coming after him and republicans with shovels and pitch forks because he will have screwed things up so badly that even the most loyal of magats will be screaming for blood.

Grover Cleveland was the 22nd and 24th president of the United States and served 4 years each term.

I know the law says only two terms. But. Does that mean consecutively? Or in total? Because. I could see the argument being made that this is technically his first term.

And if there's an argument to be made, you know the Republicans will make it and most likely win.

Democrats are failures at engaging the nation.

You talking about the same MAGAts who aggressively ignore reality and facts in order to continue supporting Trump?

His first four years weren't a big enough failure for them? A million dead Americans and the economy flushing down the tubes didn't changes their minds.

I'm not sure what he needs to do for them to scream for his blood.
