Corporations aren't people until they start going to jail.

That's well said. They were specifically created to SHIELD people. Corporations that commit crimes, someone better be going to prison. That would change the behavior real quick.

@#2 ... [Corporations] were specifically created to SHIELD people. ...

Apologies if my word substitution above is not correct.

But, back in the day I started a LLC for the software I was writing and selling.

Why did I create that LLC?

To protect me, personally, for grievances that anyone may have had against the LLC's products.

Long story short, that LLC didn't last for more than a decade or so.

The legalities of maintaining a LLC became burdensome.

I was backing Speaks on his comment.

I have had a couple of S corps. Similar thought to your reasoning, I had partners and we decided S Corp was the more preferable route.

I don't debate the purpose of incorporating. The thought they are "people" however is ridiculous. A corporation cannot go to prison but executives and workers can and do. That essentially proves the corporation is not a person and I do not believe it was correct to interpret a corporation to be a person or citizen for that matter. That is an important technicality I believe. A corporation cannot vote. Yet according to Citizens United it can spend all the money it wants on elections. Ridiculous.

If you or I were to plead guilty to these charges we would go to prison at least briefly. PEOPLE committed the crimes, I do not believe corporate shields should protect them from that. I do not mean the fall guy middle manager either.
