Texas Sues New York Doctor over Abortion Pill Prescription

Texas has sued a New York doctor for prescribing abortion pills to a woman near Dallas, launching one of the first challenges in the U.S. to shield laws that Democrat-controlled states passed to protect physicians after Roe v. Wade was overturned.

The lawsuit is an attack on "shield laws" which allow providers to treat abortion patients across state lines via telemedicine. www.jezebel.com/texas-ag-sue ...

This should be handled by the medical boards of each state. Prior to retiring I could not see a patient via telehealth in Texas unless I was licensed there. My snowbirds would have to see me and get enough refills prior to heading south. Texas pharmacies would fill valid scripts that were transferred from another state. Savy patients would figure out I could not verify their location so they would say they were at home. Some were bright enough to put their kitchen as their background on the video.
How is Paxton going to enforce this, doubt if New York would extradite a physician.

NY is not going to extradite him.

It's not enforceable unless NY cooperates. NY is not going to cooperate with Texas. Why should they?

It's just more political theater. And, of course, they hope in ends up in front of the most corrupt Supreme Court in decades ... if not history.

Paxton hopes to invoke fear. Fear of providing care, or seeking care is just as effective as the actual ban.

Bring it on TexASS as I live in a South American country overran with violent immigrants that use weapons imported from TexASS to rob and murder my fellow countrymen and women. We should be able to sue you if you sue other states for vending women's health care products I dare say.
