Modest Needs CEO charged with embezzling 2.5 million

In 2005 Cadenhead donated the domain name benedictxvi.com to Modest Needs, a charity to help low income people. MN kept the domain name redirecting visits to the domain to their own website to collect donations. In June 2024 Keith Taylor, the CEO of MN was charged for spending 2.5 millions on a personal lavish lifestyle. The case is currently ongoing. Taylor is out on bond.

Gee...maybe should have given it to the Vatican.

The reason for this thread is what BillJohnson??

I thought it was interesting.

There's so much scamming going on today and likely for decades. Much larger scale than we probably know.

Right now Musk is uncovering millions of dollars of waste and fraud in the government.

And charities....

My last line is ambigous.

Did I mean Keith Taylor should have given it to the Vatican and not get in trouble...

Or did I mean Cadenhead should have?

I'm not telling.

benedictxvi.com I believe RCADE offered this to the Vatican in exchange for a Mitre and absolution for sins committed during a week in Indiana. If memory serves me correctly.

#3 | Posted by LauraMohr at 2025-02-21 08:07 PM

Laura,

I believe he said he joked he would do that. Not sure he actually did.

Besides...Cadenhead gave it away to a charity in good faith so you are making no point.

The interview Roger(s) did on the Today Show was very funny when they heard he owned the name.

" Right now Musk is uncovering millions of dollars of waste and fraud in the government."

Are you including what Elon is claiming, or what the real amount was when it turned out his teenagers couldn't count zeros properly?

Musk made a savings claim that was 1000 times the truth.

Also, it's very important to remember they're trying to cut $2 trillion, but not to balance the budget, or even get closer. They want to also pass a $5 trillion tax giveaway.

Every single cut to the average taxpayer is meant to give more money to the billionaires.

And all of it, 100%, would all be newly borrowed money.

#8 | Posted by Danforth at 2025-02-21 09:12 PM

Dan,

You and I probably agree the billionaires are horrible stinking greedy pigs.

But...will anyone ever actually stand up to them in Washington....

This isn't a partisan problem.

It's a greedy human problem and the fact money=power.

#9 | Posted by BillJohnson at 2025-02-21 09:25 PM

Dan,

That power gives them more power to take even more for themselves.

Trump's tax cuts that are due to expire actually help working people too, because the standard deduction increase provided by Trump's tax cut reduces their tax liability.

But you do have to have a job to benefit from it.

#10 | Posted by BillJohnson at 2025-02-21 09:27 PM

"Trump's tax cuts that are due to expire actually help working people too, because the standard deduction increase provided by Trump's tax cut reduces their tax liability."

You missed the part where they took away your personal exemption. If you donated to your church, your taxes probably went UP, since the donations aren't deductible for 95% of filers. And any actual benefit YOU had has expired.

"But you do have to have a job to benefit from it."

You don't know what you're talking about. Do you know who benefited MORE than American workers (and will, again)? Foreign Investors. And who benefits most? The world's wealthiest one-tenth of 1%, getting more than half the tax giveaways.

Their "job" is opening dividend checks for a living. Their biggest "work injury" is a paper cut. They "benefit" the most.

The Republicans want to borrow an additional $5 Trillion so they can give over $4 Trillion to the world's wealthiest 1%. That's the equation.

Are you in favor of borrowing more money while running a deficit budget, just to give away tax cuts?!?

#11 | Posted by Danforth at 2025-02-21 09:41 PM

Over the decades I haven't seen either party take on the rich because they contribute money to their campaigns.

#12 | Posted by BillJohnson at 2025-02-21 09:42 PM

Dan,

I'm not claiming who benefitted less or most or whatever so don't go off on a tangent.

I simply pointed out I sure liked having my tax liability lower last year.

The problem of dealing with inequity (if that's what it is) is too complex for me.

Looks like tax loopholes and unfair wealth distributions might be something to address.

People get paid not for what they do but how much power they wield.

And people are more willing to squeeze to the last penny more than in the past when "greed" was not as socially accepted.

Even the rich decades ago didn't amass the rediculous amount of wealth the rich do today.

#13 | Posted by BillJohnson at 2025-02-21 09:55 PM

Dan,

"The world's wealthiest one-tenth of 1%"

I saw a graph representation once demonstrating the wealth of the top 1%.

The bulk of the money is held by the top .1%.

And the rest of the 1% (nine-tenths of 1%) all added together is less than the .1% (one-tenth of 1%)

As Bill Burr was saying recently (while people are facing high food costs and housing out of this world).

However, if you're bitching about Trump not doing anything...well...no one really is.

It's looking like Trump is shaking the tree now if judges and politicians don't block him.

#14 | Posted by BillJohnson at 2025-02-21 10:03 PM

"I'm not claiming who benefitted less or most or whatever so don't go off on a tangent."

I'm telling you, according to the EQUATION, they got billions, and you got peanuts. And in the long term, YOU'RE the one on the hook for the new borrowing.

"I simply pointed out I sure liked having my tax liability lower last year."

Most of that was probably from Biden's tweaks. What's left of Trump's cuts for YOU probably didn't add up to a dollar a week per filer. Meanwhile, the richest folks will save tens of thousands of dollars a day.

"people are more willing to squeeze to the last penny more than in the past when "greed" was not as socially accepted."

You enable the people who celebrate greed.

#15 | Posted by Danforth at 2025-02-21 10:05 PM

"The bulk of the money is held by the top .1%."

Yeah.

And they got 60% of the last tax code's giveaways, and are set to get $3 Trillion of the $5 Trillion in the new code.

Knowing ALL their tax cuts will have to be newly borrowed...are you still in favor?

#16 | Posted by Danforth at 2025-02-21 10:07 PM

"Over the decades I haven't seen either party take on the rich because they contribute money to their campaigns."

Absolutely true.

Every politician is aware of the biggest tax loophole in the code: GRATS, or Grantor Remainder Annuity Trusts. The uber-rich deposit assets, live off the gains, and then...just...disclaim it.

Those pass to the heirs, tax-free. Sheldon Aldeson avoided over $3 billion in gift and inheritance taxes that way, passing $8 billion to his kids.

#17 | Posted by Danforth at 2025-02-21 10:12 PM

'I saw a graph representation once demonstrating the wealth of the top 1%. The bulk of the money is held by the top .1%. And the rest of the 1% (nine-tenths of 1%) all added together is less than the .1% (one-tenth of 1%)"

Yep, all true.

Now, to the crux of the issue: Do you believe the USA should go another $4-$5 trillion in debt, knowing OVER HALF that money will go to the .1% you reference???

#18 | Posted by Danforth at 2025-02-21 10:18 PM

Dan,

Right now we're hearing about billions unaccounted for.

Supposedly about half of the money we sent to Ukraine, they say they didn't get. Where did that money go? We may not like the answers when they start naming names of off shore personal accounts.

Nothing is black and white is it?

Should we cut our nose to spite our face? (as the saying goes)?

The answer is, assuming your numbers are accurate, we might have any choice until we address the root of the problem.

But again...too complex for me.

#19 | Posted by BillJohnson at 2025-02-21 10:29 PM

#22 | Posted by BillJohnson at 2025-02-21 11:12 PM

Dan,

"You enable the people who celebrate greed."

I don't think you understand how enabling works.

#23 | Posted by BillJohnson at 2025-02-21 11:43 PM

" I don't think you understand how enabling works.

Sure I do. You complain about somebody, you pretend to be an actual Christian, and then you go into the voting booth, and cast your vote for somebody who breaks a majority of the 10 Commandments on a regular basis.

Don't tell us you're surprised when he turns out to be the antichrist. I mean ... You've read your Bible, right? The antichrist has six earmarks. Trump has at least five of those, and now, after proclaiming himself king, six.

You're enabling those who get your vote.

#24 | Posted by Danforth at 2025-02-22 01:18 AM

Dan,

You're trying to provoke a response but it's not enabling how you're applying it.

#26 | Posted by LauraMohr at 2025-02-22 10:44 AM

"it's not enabling how you're applying it."

Of course it is. Voting is the ULTIMATE enabling in the political world.

Every vote tells a politician you believe in him, and what he's doing.

Meanwhile, at the center of your claim, is...votes don't count.

I disagree.

#27 | Posted by Danforth at 2025-02-22 10:49 AM

BillJohnson,

How many of the six earmarks of the AntiChrist do you find in Trump?

#28 | Posted by Danforth at 2025-02-22 10:51 AM

Dan,

You know...I think it might be time to bring asylums back.

Too many people running loose who would have been locked up at one time.

But this site would be ghost town if that happened.

Dan,

"How many of the six earmarks of the AntiChrist do you find in Trump?"

Why are you obssessed with the AntiChrist?

Just wondering since you don't strike me as someone interested in Christianity or the Bible, except to mock.

#33 | Posted by ClownShack at 2025-02-22 01:46 PM

" Why are you obssessed with the AntiChrist?"

Why are you ignoring the clear warnings from the Bible?

How about this: Why don't you list the six hallmarks of the Anti-Christ, and tell us how that's NOT Trump.

A casual observer might believe you're afraid of the honest answer.

#34 | Posted by Danforth at 2025-02-22 04:55 PM

" you don't strike me as someone interested in Christianity or the Bible"

I probably know it better than you do. But I'm more of a Beatitudes Christian than a Leviticus Christian.
