Arizona Voter Citizenship Rulings Lead to Disparate Treatment for Voters

County recorders have taken different positions on what to do when a voter who hasn't proven their citizenship tries to update their address or party registration.

A GOP push to require proof of citizenship from people registering to vote is on the verge of passing the House, and has become law in some states.

Pay attention to how it's gone in Arizona, where voters are getting caught up in glitches. www.votebeat.org/arizona/2025 ... [image or embed]

"Arizona Voter Citizenship Rulings Lead to Disparate Treatment for Voters"

Well, I would hope so!

Disparate treatment of citizens is a feature, not a bug, of the GOP's voter disenfranchisement activities.

"As of early 2025, approximately 56% of driver licenses and IDs in circulation nationwide are compliant with Real ID standards. However, compliance rates vary significantly by state, with some states having less than 40% compliance."

So, yeah, when about 40%-50% of the population lack the ID for exercising a right they are entitled to under the Constitution, some might say that's a problem. Not you or the other MAGAts though, I'm sure.

What is stopping them from getting it? Democrats still think blacks and browns are too stupid to find a DMV and rural white people don't know how to use copy machines?

What is stopping them from getting it? [racist garbage removed]

All sorts of stuff. Which is why 40 to 60% of driver licenses are noncompliant. Let that number sink it. This isn't the matter of a few peeps being too lazy to get one.

And we are not required to have one in order to exercise our constitutional right to vote. At least until Trump's SCOTUS says otherwise, which it will.

They already figured out how to get their original ID - what is stopping them from going back to the DMV to get the real ID compliant version? They will need it to fly anyway. Did the Dems move the DMV to trick the blacks and browns?

" What is stopping them from getting it?"

Well, in the case of my late MIL, it's because she was born in a country hospital in 1927. She couldn't get a copy of her birth certificate because ... it didn't exist.

Suppressionists would deny her right to vote.

I am not asking you dipshit until you either provide a link backing up your claim that the .1% received 50% of Trump's tax cut or admit that you lied. Outside of that, I don't care what you have to say.

Convenient because you can't answer him.

Won't /= can't dipshit. If he wants me to answer, it is very easy for him to get one. He just needs to link up or admit he lied. Very easy for people with integrity to do. Instead, he goes crying to mommy.

Guys who change their account name multiple times don't get to lecture anyone on "integrity".

Yes, there is a problem with using Real ID.

Another option: require new voters to show proof of citizenship when they register. For most new voters, that isn't a problem; they show a birth certificate or passport at the bureau of motor vehicles to get a REAL ID, and that proof can be used for voter registration. (The REAL ID is not itself proof of citizenship, because they are available to noncitizens who are in the U.S. legally; it is the underlying document shown by a citizen to obtain a REAL ID that can be used for voting purposes.) www.ncsl.org
