Moscow is satisfied with US statements that Ukraine will not join NATO. Press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov:

"The fact that Ukraine's membership in NATO is excluded, we heard from Washington at various levels. And, of course, this is what causes our satisfaction and coincides with our position that Ukraine should not be a member of NATO and should not have prospects for integration with the North Atlantic Alliance, because this would pose a threat to the national interests of the Russian Federation."

According to Peskov, Ukraine's desire to join NATO has become one of the root causes of the conflict.
