What is going on? Trump supporters know that all you have to do is say "drill, baby, drill" and it automatically raises production and lowers gas prices.

As I've written, the 'easy' oil and gas was long ago developed. What is being developed now is much more expensive, and requires higher gasoline and natural gas prices. Energy developers will idle rigs rather than extract at a loss. You cannot make a losing proposition profitable through more volume produced.

The EU has pledged to buy more US natural gas, and that presents one problem: the US isn't producing all the gas that the EU pledged to buy. The EU isn't going to buy US gas at a price higher than the then-current market price, no matter how much they get screamed at by an old, badly dressed, fat orange criminal insurrectionist and golf cheat...
