Ukraine Says Russia is Training Venezuela Troops

Ukrainian intelligence reports that Russian Army General Oleg Leontievich Makarevich, accused of overseeing the destruction of Ukraine's Nova Kakhovka dam, is now heading a military advisory mission in Venezuela. Makarevich is in charge of more than 120 troops who are training Venezuelan forces on a wide range of military functions. Those activities are reported to be not in reaction to the current US military buildup in the region.

Note that in an unusual move, the US CJCS is visiting troops in Puerto Rico. A COCOM CDR would usually conduct such a mission. In this case, that would be SOUTHCOM CDR ADM Admiral Alvin Holsey, but he abruptly resigned a few months ago.

Earlier this year the Kremlin discreetly sent instructors from an elite unit to Venezuela in an Il-76 aircraft to train the local army in FPV and wire-guided drones.

Here's another opportunity to examine what a first class idiot Donald Trump is.

Putin would like nothing better than another US war of choice in Venezuela.

Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar (R-FL) raised eyebrows on Fox Business Tuesday when she endorsed a U.S. invasion of Venezuela " but then she took it a step further, telling anchor David Asman, with no evidence, that Venezuela is "giving uranium" to hostile foreign powers and terrorist groups.

"This is going to be a very major success story, not only for [the Venezuelan people], but for us," said Salazar. "And I salute President Trump for having the fortitude, the courage, the political vision to be doing this. Because [Nicolas] Maduro is the head of a transnational criminal organization. Maduro is not the legitimate president of the country, so we're not invading a sovereign country that has a free and fair elected democratic president. No. This guy is a thug."
