The tiny farming town of 1,725 people"where nine out of ten voters backed Donald Trump in 2024"is now scrambling to figure out what comes next after federal immigration agents swept through in mid-October and arrested more than 100 Hispanic workers at a local horse racetrack. So far, 75 people have been deported, and the farms that keep this place running are facing a labour shortage with no easy fix in sight.

I have frequently stated on this most august site that if you are in the Country illegally, you should leave.

But, and you had to know there was a "but," what would the effect of that be upon the economy of the Country?

The answer is obvious ...

Pres Trump's private militia, a.k.a. ICE, seems to be attacking Blue State cities, but not as much in the Red State farm lands and meat processing plants.

It's a parallel to the fact that these same people give a very harsh rating of congress, but then are like 90% likely to vote to re-elect their own congressman.

People believe illegal immigration is real problem in this country........except not right where they live.

Propaganda is effective.

People will say something should be done about almost any problem you can name. From Global Warming to the price of eggs.

Seldom are the people making the ad populem argument (a logical fallacy) mentioning the scope, or the costs, or the trade-offs.

This is closer to propaganda than it is statistics. I think that makes it marketing.
