Major Shakeup for Dems Trying to Finally Win a Senate Seat in Texas

Republicans haven't lost a statewide race in Texas in more than 30 years, but Democrats are hoping a "blue wave" in the midterms could help them end that streak.

More from the article ...

... Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett, a rising star within the party who has built a reputation as one of President Trump's fiercest critics in Congress, has joined the race for the U.S. Senate in Texas. She is seeking to unseat Republican Sen. John Cornyn and provide Democrats a critical victory in their pursuit of flipping the Senate in next year's midterms.

"Today, under Trump and three decades of Republican rule in Texas, those very Texans are under daily attack," Crockett wrote on her campaign website. "I'm running to protect Texans from these attacks and safeguard the rights our Constitution guarantees."

Her decision comes just hours after Colin Allred, who led Democrats' unsuccessful bid to oust Sen. Ted Cruz in 2024, announced that he is dropping out of next year's race.

Allred, who lost to Cruz by more than 8 points last year, didn't mention Crockett in his statement explaining his decision to drop out of the race. But he did make the case that a "bruising" Democratic primary could undermine their chances of ousting Cornyn in the general election, arguing that his party will need to be "unified" if it stands a chance at pulling off an upset in November. ...

@#1 ... "Today, under Trump and three decades of Republican rule in Texas, those very Texans are under daily attack," Crockett wrote on her campaign website. "I'm running to protect Texans from these attacks and safeguard the rights our Constitution guarantees." ...

OK, I do not live in Texas, nor do I presuppose I understand the political thinking of Texans.

Given that, my first question might be along the lines of ... is that really your opening volley in the current political environment?

To me, at this point, this race for the Senate may turn into the usual Democratic loss due to ineffectual messaging, i.e., pushing policies rather than listening about concerns.

But that's just me opining ...

Cornyn will turn 80 during his next term if he wins again. 44 year old Crocket should be a welcome change for anyone in Texas who claimed Biden was too old.

It seems as though the word "affordability" is having a positive impact on voters elsewhere. Everybody has been a victim of higher prices.

Surely, Texas isn't immune from the impact while Republicans running the show.

Crocket might want to dwell on that.

Crocket might want to dwell on that.

Crocket might want to dwell on her message outside of the 5 or so counties, of 254, that make up Houston, San Antonio, Dallas, Austin and El Paso. All statewide candidates dwell on that or not, at their peril.

The dynamic Jasmine Crockett will do fine at the state level in Texas where she will remain for the next several years.

Ms. Crockett will plateau if/when she ever reaches a national candidacy when she is between 51 to 58 years old.

While she accepts no money from AIPAC, Ms. Crockett's voting record during her short tenure in Congress has been supporting ethnic cleansing in Gaza and fully funding the Israeli Death Forces (IDF).

The antiwar movement, which is as old as the American Revolution, as well as progressive voters around the US, are fully aware of her voting record and will not support her in a future national election against a Republican candidate.

This analysis may anger anti-Republican voters and Democratic supporters on drudge.com, so be it. But rather than be angry or try to convince these millions of Samaritans to change their mind in future US national elections, wouldn't it be much easier to change the mind of just one single person today, like the charismatic Jasmine Crockett?

Giggle. Bless your heart, wait and see.

Hi ET_AL:

We shall all wait and see indeed. If young Ms. Crockett can't oust geriatric dinosaur US Senator John Cornyn (R-TX), the Lone Star State and the US is more effed up than we think.

How "Beto" O'Rourke couldn't defeat hologram Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) or Christian Taliban Greg Abbott (R-TX) is a mystery to non-Texans like me.

Our way forward to oust the dinosaurs, supporters of Israeli ethnic cleansing, corporate Congressmen, and defenders of the sclerotic status quo (like rancid Andrew "Judas Iscariot" Cuomo in NYC): pdamerica.org

You don't have a clue about the Texas electorate. I've underestimated the Democrats state wide fail margin by 3-7 points the last several elections. You will do no better.

Beto's serious screwup was going anti-gun in Texass. Absolutely stupid move on his part.

Going pro-genocide is a massive screwup for ANY Democrat though. That plus the idiotic "but the economy is doing great now" message cost Kamala the election. Biden's railroad strike breaking didn't help her either, nor did the Fed's out of control interest rate increases.

Thanks for the info about Texas, DarkVader, that makes sense. Beto meant to save lives lost by uncontrolled firearm violence in the Lone Star State.

"Going pro-genocide is a massive screwup for ANY Democrat though" is absolutely the emeth as history has and will show us.

But didn't Joe Biden spend billions of dollars on infrastructure projects for Texas which drew Felon Musk to move his nefarious companies there, regardless of the other Biden missteps you noted?

From my standpoint, Red State oil-rich Texas seems to be a black hole of American taxpayer funds from non-oil rich Blue States, to wit:

"The state of Texas receives more money from the federal government than it sends to Washington, DC. The Lone Star State receives about $71.1 billion more in federal funds than its residents and businesses contribute in federal taxes. This means Texas is a net recipient of federal funds, not a net contributor." (Source: www.politifact.com)

Ingracios!
