"House Democrats are going to continue to fight to get this extension through the Congress on our side. It will pass with a bipartisan majority," Jeffries told host Jonathan Karl on ABC News's "This Week."

"If it passes, that will put pressure on Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) and his caucus to reverse course and back an extension, Jeffries noted. A three-year extension of the ACA subsidies " backed by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) " failed in the upper chamber earlier this month because of opposition from the majority of the GOP."

House Rethugs are watching their Party lose elections all around the country... and thinking they should try to keep their jobs rather than kowtow to Trump some more.

Sen Rethugs may not be so worried.

The Senate is insulated from public opinion more than the House is.

For just this kind of reasons.

That's why direct election of Senators didn't become law until 1913.

It's an inherently ANTI DEMOCRATIC Body.

The Oligarchy got special Privileges from the Founders. They got Super Representation, long before Citizens United.

Like Slavery, it was one of the greatest flaws in our system.

If Anything, the Senate should be less protected from the "Rabble" than the House.

Like One year terms, with term limits.

No more than 4 consecutive terms.

A 6 year term staggered among the members with no direct election was a way to give the Propertied Rich a Veto on the House.

It was INTENDED to be a brake on the House.

Why they felt this was Appropriate is not Clear to me.

Something about Fear of the Poor.

It will not pass the Senate.

The last time I heard that from the House Minority Leader, the bill passed all of Conress with just one dissenting vote.

While I am not predicting a similar result here, I will say that I would be surprised if it does not pass both Houses of Congress.

But then it becomes, will Pres Trump sign it?

Overrule him if the votes are there.

It's time Congress reasserted its True Prerogatives.

Trump is a Bully.

Kick his Ass.

Imagine calling something affordable but then needing subsidies to make it actually affordable.

@#8 ... Imagine calling something affordable but then needing subsidies to make it actually affordable. ...

Is that actually all that the affordability concern of the voters is about?

Healthcare costs may be one part of the affordability concern, but I doubt it is the entire concern.

Stated differently, unless and until MAGA understands the issues they face from the voters, will they be able to earn the votes they need?

Imagine saying it's better for America to end the subsidy and make it unaffordable.

Republicans are doing this to Make America Great Again, right?

#8 Imagine being so stupid as to post such a thing.

Hint: You wouldn't have an affordable highway to drive on if it weren't for government subsidies.

You're welcome, TheBovineExcrement

Imagine a party that wishes to make healthcare affordable for Americans

And you would be imagining Democrats.

Imagine a party that doesn't care if Americans cannot afford healthcare.

That would be republicans.

So yeah.

Go ahead. Imagine that. But you don't have to. It is currently the Way of it.
