China, Russia and Iran Investing Billions in US Midterms

Darjan Vujica: Aggregate annual spending on foreign influence is projected to exceed $10 billion this year.

Instead of shoring up the United States' defenses against foreign disinformation, the Trump administration is scaling them back--and "leaving the country woefully unprepared to handle AI-powered attacks," write James Rubin and Darjan Vujica.

"Rudd's commitment was particularly welcome because China, Russia and Iran have drastically increased their budgets for influence operations. Russia, for instance, has made a calculated trade-off.

Its 2026 budget increased funding for state-run media and information operations by 54 percent " an additional $458 million.

Well, with Trump s*&^canning all the cyber security agencies and teams/departments of agencies, this was a given.

I swear most of what I see on FB now is foreign agitator garbage. So much so I'm probably going to delete the account and app.

Long ago, I recognized that the Trump administration is run by people who act in the best interests of themselves, as a grifting gang, and of those who are their patrons. So, when Trump does stuff that is to Putin's advantage, I just figure it is more of Trump dividing us one from another and from our historic allies, like Canada and the UK. We are led by people who really, really don't care.

We need to investigate this situation. Who do we have to look into this problem and take action? What-we did WHAT? Well, did we save money and get rid of the woke lefties on the staff? Well, OK then. Mission accomplished ...
