Trump Claims Inflation Victory Nearly 20 Times Even as Prices Bite

Reuters review of his speeches shows a president repeatedly declaring inflation beaten while rarely acknowledging the strain many Americans say they still feel.

Trump likes to complain that he inherited the worst inflation in history, but the truth is that he started his term with inflation at a manageable 3%. My @morningjoe-msnow.bsky.social Chart

Like Biden, there isn't a whole lot the POTUS can actually do about inflation for most cases. Turnip's part in this is the tariffs that made everything more expensive for the manufactures and the public. He can't accept fault so he gaslights. Only thing is the consumer isn't fooled anytime they have to buy something. It can't be hidden by claiming otherwise. This one is a loosing battle and he had only to look at Biden's attempts at this to see it.

Turnip has focused on Democratic cities in placing ICE, holding up funding (which he constantly loses in court), placing blame, and attempting to dilute the vote into his favor. He'll no more accept the vote outcome this midseason than he accepted his loss at the polls to Biden. Everyone was tired of the chaos he constantly stirred up and nothing has changed in that except for how brutal it's become. Voters looked for anyone that wasn't Turnip, just to end it. We are looking at the same thing all over again, come midseason elections.

@#1 ... Turnip's part in this is the tariffs that made everything more expensive for the manufactures and the public. ...

Even Sec Bessent said back before Pres Trump was inaugurated (mid-January 2024 or so) that ~tariffs are inflationary.~

@#3 ... inflation continues it's trend down ...

I agree.

Under fmr Pres Biden fell from 9.1% in June 2022 to 3.0% in January 2025.

Since January 2025, inflation went from 3.0% all the way down to 2.7% in December 2025. Though number for the end of 2025 and the beginning of 2026 are missing because of Trump's government shutdown.

Yeah inflation is doing so great that trump keeps skipping the release of inflation reports and firing the people in charge of reporting it.
