The independent Black Sea nation of Georgia, once a satellite USSR, republic is weighing its future between not alienating Russia, its aggressive northern neighbor that invaded in 2008 to occupy the provinces of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, or electing a new government that aims to have Georgia becoming a EU member by 2030. The most persuasive argument for staying with a pro-Russian government seems to be to avoid another armed invasion by Putin's military. |
