Seagulls have never had the best reputation as beach cohabitants, but one in particular is (quite literally) taking the cake for Waterford, Connecticut's most wanted bird. A gull named Cecil has become notorious for taking food right out of people's hands, with no shame.

... Everyone from sunbathers to lifeguards has become familiar with Cecil, so much so that the town has posted signs warning beachgoers to beware.

"As long as he puts his mind to it, he can eat anything on the beach at this point," said Louis Dhervilly, a lifeguard at Waterford Beach Park.

Another beachgoer said she started eating her food under her coverup so that Cecil couldn't swoop in.

While seagulls are notorious for following food, Cecil seems to be exceptionally assertive. "We've had incidents of him landing on people's heads and taking food out of their mouths," lifeguard Madeline Parent said. ...

The Waterford lifeguards have gotten to know the gull so well that they've even figured out his palate. Dhervilly noted that Cecil seems to be drawn to carbs over anything, but that he also appreciates the finer things " he once spotted him chowing down a king crab leg.

"It stuck out on both sides of his neck," Dhervilly said.

Despite his behavior, Cecil does have preferences -- he's been known to spit out pickles and cucumbers. ...
