Bruno Kahl, President of Germany's Federal Intelligence Service (BND), stated that Russia is preparing to test the credibility of NATO's Article V, adding that German intelligence has concrete evidence of the Kremlin's preparations for potential aggression against the Alliance. The BND chief emphasized that Moscow no longer believes in the reliability of NATO's collective defence system " particularly Article V of the North Atlantic Treaty, which guarantees a joint response in the event of an attack on a member state. "We are very sure, and we have intelligence evidence to back this up, that [Russia's full-scale invasion of] Ukraine is only one step on Russia's path towards the West." German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius has issued similar warnings in the past, repeatedly stating that Germany must be "ready for war" by the end of this decade. Ukraine's intelligence chief publicly echoed the same analysis.

The Trumpf junta has already signaled the US military won't be participating in NATO drills after 2025. This year CIA abruptly withdrew the name of Ralph Goff, an experienced senior officer with impeccable anti-Russian credentials, to lead the Directorate of Operations. The EU and NATO recognize the threat from Vladimir Putin (72) and with Canada, initiated the Rearm Europe program. Meanwhile in the US, AIPAC will ensure that Israel continues receiving US military aid at the expense of Ukraine and NATO. An international arrest warrant issued by the ICC for war crimes remains active for Vladimir Putin. An indictment is merely an allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Link: BND

Tangential granularity from the NYT about the new world order:

New trade deals. Joint sanctions against Israel. Military agreements.
America's closest allies are increasingly turning to each other to advance their interests, deepening their ties as the Trumpf junta challenges them with tariffs and other measures that are upending trade, diplomacy, and defense.
Concerned by shifting US priorities under Dotard Trumpf, some of America's traditional partners on the world stage have spent the turbulent months since Mr. Trumpf's January inauguration focusing on building up their direct relationships, flexing diplomatic muscles, and leaving the US aside. This emerging dynamic involves countries such as Britain, France, Canada, and Japan.

To pay for the increased defense spending to counter Russia, Western countries have slashed foreign aid budgets this year and reductions will steepen in 2026, with the US, UK, Germany, and Canada cutting the most, according to the Center for Global Development (CGD).

The aid cuts will mean "significant losses" for many developing nations: Ethiopia is projected to lose the most aid in nominal terms, with Jordan, Afghanistan, and the Democratic Republic of Congo also hit particularly hard.

Jordan is one of the most stable countries in the Middle East with an excellent intelligence service that works with the West, but straddled with a non-petroleum-based economy and a sizeable population of Palestinian refugees. Expect China to step in and fill the void, globally increasing their diplomatic and intelligence footprint through goodwill and economic largesse.
