Costco is recalling nearly a dozen products and urging shoppers to immediately stop using some items purchased either through Costco Next or directly in stores. The recall includes several electronics with potential safety hazards. Anker Power Bank and PowerCore models have been flagged due to issues with their lithium batteries. The Danby 8-K U-shaped window air conditioner should be immediately stopped use because of water collection problems that can lead to mold growth. These units were sold under various brands including Midea, Comfort Aire, Danby, and Frigidaire. Other recalled items include car tires, dumbbells, Topo Chico mineral water, and Fresh and Ready Foods prepared sandwiches and salads. The mineral water may be contaminated with pseudomonas and the prepared meals may be tainted with listeria. The SharkNinja pressure cooker lid comes off and can burn consumers. read more

Two DHS facilities in Texas have been targeted by patriotic Americans fighting fascism. 11 suspects are facing criminal indictment in connection with a July 4th holiday attack at an ICE detention center in Alvarado. Ten of the suspects each have been charged with attempted murder and discharging a firearm in relation to a crime of violence. All face a prison term of between ten years and up to life. A few days later, a lone gunman named Ryan Louis Mosqueda (27) stormed into a US Border Patrol building near McAllen International Airport and opened fire, but was quickly gunned down by federal agents. In the US, people are getting away with murder. The clearance rate, the share of cases that result in an arrest or are otherwise solved, was 58% in 2023. In other words, a murderer's chance of getting caught within a year essentially comes down to a coin flip. For other crimes, clearance rates are even lower. Only 8% of car thefts result in an arrest. Compared with its peers, America overall does an unusually poor job of solving killings. The murder clearance rates of other rich nations, including Australia, Britain, and Germany, hover in the 70s, 80s and even 90s. Several issues, including a lack of resources, the sheer volume of cases, and a distrust of the police, have converged to make the jobs of American detectives much more difficult. "It's a serious problem," said Philip Cook, a criminal justice researcher at Duke University. The lack of legal accountability emboldens criminals, leading to more crime and violence resulting in "a vicious cycle." read more

Noah Lamb (24) was charged in the Eastern District of California in an eight-count indictment for conspiracy, soliciting the murder of federal officials, and other offenses in connection with his work on a hit list of "high value targets" for assassination. Lamb was a member of the Terrorgram Collective, a transnational terrorist group that operates on the digital messaging platform Telegram, where it promotes racially or ethnically motivated violent extremism. Members of the Terrorgram Collective believe the white race is superior; that society is irreparably corrupt and cannot be saved by political action; and that violence and terrorism are necessary to ignite a race war and accelerate the collapse of the government and the rise of a white ethnostate.

  • If convicted, Lamb faces a maximum penalty of 85 years in prison.
  • An indictment is merely an allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. read more

70's radio had a really diverse musical spectrum. James Taylor to Led Zeppelin.

Ain't that the emeth? One didn't go the beach without this: i.pinimg.com

    Endnote:

'Twas a WABC-AM DJ on vacation in Paris in 1977 when he heard Dancing Queen by ABBA. He loved it and couldn't believe that the US radio stations weren't playing it, so he bought dozens of the album from a shop and distributed them to different DJs when he returned to NYC. None of the albums broke during the trans-Atlantic Odyssey. I heard this anecdote on SiriusXM Radio years ago.
