In the end, he was never held to accounts, though impeached in the House, and then he rallied his violent gang to attack the people counting the Electoral College votes.
If we do lose our democracy, it will be because of the unfathomable cowardice of today's Republican Party that refused to fight back against fascism.

Let us be honest here, the Republican Party regards the economy, anyone's, as being a zero sum game, for them to rise to the heights of unbelievable wealth, of course , there are going to be a lot of losers and suckers living in the tents alongside the roadways. When Putin rose to power in the wreckage of the old Soviet Union, it was the war pensioners and poor who begged on the streets.

Wait, isn't that Crypto's job, to be a currency the very wealthy can use to hide their assets from the tax man?

Well, the greater truth is that big wealth always corrupts democracies, the few find a way to corrupt and own the power structures, and then it is allegiance to the Emperor and then....chaos.

There was a time in the not so distant past that I saw myself as media and tech savvy, but not know. I do distrust Crypto with all of my being though, and think China has the right idea...don't allow it to corrupt the Chinese economy.

Well, our attacking Greenland would at once rupture NATO, which is one of Putin's major goals, so there is that for Putin's good buddy in the White House.

Democracy only works if the people are educated, both as to how things work and to how others think and what their needs are. Problem is, the most educated hate Trump.
As it is, the Republican Party of today is dedicated to weakening our international relationships, strengthening the groups who hate, and allying the hate with the rich to try and stay in power as a minority party.

Just Trump planning ahead, if he somehow loses both Houses of Congress in the Midterms, he will make sure his army is armed, out of prison, and happy to attack the police and the courts again.

Well, if he opens Alcatraz and sets it up to be a prison camp for opponents like Stephen Colbert and Maddow...when they get around to me I hope I get sent there. The view, of the bay, would be great, and goodness knows the conversations would be intelligent and fun. In that world, to have a brain and an opinion would be illegal

I am an old man who lives in low income senior and disable housing, and I wonder how many millions of people in this country are like me, watching Trump's attack on the administration of social security, the IRS, The Veterans' Administration, and other agencies that help those at the bottom third of the economic pyramid, and fear for our future.
A government is either for the support of a very few oligarchs, like in Russia, or it is to support all the people, including the poor.

It is as if Trump sees it as his duty to make Americans fear him, and the rest of the world to buy him off.
Are we sure Jared really didn't set up a good back door to the Kremlin? Much of what Trump is doing is pure Putin.

Thinking of the men of my high school class who died in combat in Vietnam , thinking of the men who I met and served with in the Marines who served in Vietnam, many of who were wounded/ killed in combat.
They served as they were asked, they risked their lives, and they trusted their government...time to remember their service.
Think of all those on the Vietnam Veterans Wall in Washington D.C....

More than anything, it was an exercise in taking from the poor to give to the rich. First they came for the administrators of Social Security and Veterans' Affairs, and after the midterms, it is...well, when Putin took power it was the war veterans and pensioners who stood begging on street corners.

Buying favor by crossing a politician's palms with silver...used to be, in the old normal world, illegal. Now, it is just Trump doing business as usual.

I knew several veterans who gave their all. whose names are on the Wall, they were our best and brightest, and Trump and his gang are our worst. They are out to destroy our democracy one institution at a time.

Translation: Trump is destroying each and every independent power in the country, people who didn't vote for him. The educational system teaches kids to think and reason...they are the enemy of the fascist.

If I were to take all of Trump's nonsense and be able to write one law about it, I would say that in America one cannot run for President if they arrive at the age of 80 during that term. As a younger man, he was a jerk but he knew it and was just a grifter, now he clearly is not in the same reality as the rest of the country.

One does wonder just how we humans have gotten as far as we have, considering the way (male) humans often go off the deep end and see themselves as all powerful. Either the Republican Party finds a way back to its former glory as being a body with at least some intelligent and courageous people, like John McCain, or we are just lost.
As it is, not working on global warming means hell is about to rise from the depths, or rather down from the Sun.

Turns out the world doesn't like to be bullied, and now it is fighting back.
I, who voted for the sane, caring woman, look to the midterms and wonder if the American voters are going to return to sanity and vote against Trump finally.

We are a stupid culture doing really stupid things and at the top of the list is ignoring human caused global warming. We should have been working to lower our populations throughout the world, starting in the mid 1960's, but instead we elect the intentionally stupid, Trump and his gang of global warming deniers who now are on board with the hell that is surely going to visit our globe.

I imagine that we are in great danger of another pandemic, probably Bird Flu, since the Trump idiocy has taken away so many researchers and research.

Ah Canada, it must be wondering just how it got such good politicians as compared to the US. I would imagine the Liberals are going to make out well, thanks to Trump's consistent denigration of their nation.

I know one thing, if one speaks only Spanish, and one wants to visit and wander around the big cities, one had best carry a lot of ID and understand their rights.

The god of the right is white, rich, and without mercy. You cannot learn in an environment that punishes free thought, and since we atheists know there is no god, that the concept is man made...any kid who wakes to reality will be in real danger.
