If you will remember, President Obama had a perfectly good agreement with Iran over nuclear enrichment...but Trump, being greedy for attention, tore up that agreement. Now he wants to make a lot of trouble perhaps kill a lot of people to call himself a wartime President...
It is a war of aggression to attack a nation not a danger to your nation, and that order is an illegal order, by the way. Israel has hundreds of nuclear weapons of mass destruction aimed straight at Iran, so no one can say that the possibility of Iran's introducing nuclear weapons is the danger. Israel has done that in spades.

Actually, I think when Alito resigns it will be Vance who will be nominated/appointed to the Supreme Court so that Rubio can be VP and then President when Trump resigns. President Rubio can both pardon all of the Trump gang, and also help the Republican Party actually not be decimated in the 2028 elections.

Thank you. As a veteran of the Vietnam War, I know how important a strong Veterans' Administration can be to returning vets, and how easy it is to get lost to physical and emotional pain.
Still, while we are on the subject, my daydream is that one day we actually have a return of the draft, and all young men and women serve, either two years under arms, or two and a half years in civilian capacity, and after that service, are allowed to belong to national health care.

Fundamentalist Christianity is one of the major tools that the far right uses to get votes and divide us one from another. There is only one reality, and once they get a little child to bend a knee, in order to belong to a tribe, they have them often for life.

I find it odd that Capitalism lauds itself as the best system, but in the end, what we have, always, is a few astoundingly greedy power hungry emotionally damaged running the world, and the rest, at the bottom of the pyramid, unable to use democracy to right the ship because American democracy is bought and sold to the super rich like Trump and Musk.
Are we screwed? Of course we are. Are any of the Republicans who supported this Trumpian/Musk debacle of grift ever going to he held accountable...of course not.

Problem is, Trump needs really bad people to help him accomplish his grifting, and America seems to have a lot of those around. And he can recycle them by pardoning them so they can insurrection again.

I have a lot of nightmares, it seems to be an aging thing, but at least they stop when I wake up. One can only hope that one day soon we will wake from this devastating nightmare of Trump and the cowardly Republican Party ruining the country, and our alliances.

These are times that bring out the cynic in many of us. I figure this is just payback for all the nefarious stuff our CIA and other governmental agencies pulled over the years, Putin watched our CIA delight in supporting really bad people for the Soviets and then the isolated Russia, not to mention how they killed the Iranian democracy, in wars of aggression took out the governments of Iraq, and Vietnam and a lot of places in South and Central America.
One has to agree with the President of Portugal that Trump is clearly, "objectively, a Russian asset". We have idiots running things, dividing us one from another and our country from its historic allies. All so Trump can grift his way to more and more billions.

So this is what the Russians were feeling when they woke from their elections and saw that their country was run from the shadows by goons and goblins of the Putin gang. It does hurt to watch so much of our media get taken over and corrupted by big money, outlets like CBS once were the gold standard for independent reporting.

All this stupidity can be laid at the feet of MAGA, they helped reelect a man clearly in Russia's grip, serving as an ally of Putin, and with each insane day Trump has weakened the US, divided us one from another, and from our international allies.

It was all over but the shrieking the day that Israel deployed its hundreds of nuclear weapons of mass destruction and aimed them at the Arab states that opposed its apartheid ways. Sooner or later, that insane asylum will explode and take the whole world with it to kingdom...gone.

Fire and forget drones are being used in the Russian war of aggression against its once friendly neighbor, Ukraine. Now add in AI intelligence and decision making...and sooner or later, Judgement Day, though the morning after Trump got reelected, it felt like Judgement Day for a lot of us, and American had fallen to greed and ignorance and Russian assets.

First, as a Vietnam Veteran, I am old enough to respect vital, sincere feeling of others who woke up earlier than I that that war was in idiotic expedition in imperialism, the Vietnamese people did not want us there, they wanted Uncle Ho. So if Bill Clinton or Bush sought an exemption...in that war, at that time, that was an honorable thing to do. It was also honorable to serve if that is how one saw things, as I did.
Now, WWII, a full on war against fascism, it would have been a different thing.

There is no excuse for voting for Trump that second time, he had shown who he was during the insurrection of 2021.

American justice compared to UK justice. Here, in the US, the guy with the most to divulge gets dead. His female partner gets 20 years, though apparently she is near to getting a pardon from her good friend, the Trump part of the Trump/Epstein files collection of rich people porn.
In the UK, justice follows the law...One wonders if they in the UK will demand all the unreacted files as well.

Now here is a nightmare scenario...Alito resigns, Vance is nominated/appointed to his seat, Rubio is then appointed VP, only needs a majority vote in both Houses of Congress. Then Trump resigns, as Nixon resigned, and Rubio automatically ascends to President and pardons Trump for each and every grift ever, and pardons Trump's family and the entire gang, and then it isn't Trump in the new come the midterms, or the 2028 elections, it will be "good cop' Rubio.
Makes sense to me, though the Republican Party might find Trump not amenable to heading for the hills.

One wonders if anyone is able to keep tabs on the grift over the Trump administrations...goodness knows I am not. Being the same age as Trump, I am fine with understanding that aging is a bear and one needs to relax and let younger brains take over...younger as in sixty or so. So wish we had age limits on running for the Presidency.

Democracy allows, no...it insists, that there be at least two independent political parties keeping the other in check. Anyone who says that what I just wrote is a problem is a problem for our Constitutional Republic.

I am still working on the words "billionaire heir"...and am pretty much in agreement with the statement that what will be written on the tombstone of our democratic America will be the words "killed by the inherited wealth royalty that abandoned democracy for fascism".
Tax all billionaires at the 90% rate...great wealth is a great danger.
