Today, New York City Comptroller Brad Lander urged the New York City Law Department to pursue securities litigation against Tesla on behalf of the the New York City pension systems. The basis of the potential litigation are the material misstatements from Tesla claiming that CEO Elon Musk spends significant time on the company and is highly active in its management, despite his helming the Trump Administration's DOGE initiative, spending little of his time actually managing Tesla, and promoting policies that are actively harmful to Tesla's business. read more

Mike Johnson scraps his whole week after brutal defeat
www.axios.com

... Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) canceled half a week's worth of House votes after failing to contain a revolt over proxy voting within his own party.

Why it matters: It was Johnson's biggest legislative blow of 2025 thus far -- and the first where President Trump wasn't providing him reinforcement.

What happened: The House voted against blocking Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) from forcing a vote on allowing House members who are new parents to vote by proxy. ...

Hooters restaurant files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, leaving only one still open in CT
www.ctinsider.com

... Casual dining chain Hooters filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Monday and put forth a plan in which two of its franchisees would acquire select locations around the country to keep some restaurants open.

The bankruptcy filing in a federal court in Texas ends weeks of speculation regarding Hooters financial future. The chain closed about 40 restaurants last year, including a location in Manchester.

That closing left the Hooters on the Berlin Turnpike in Wethersfield as the chain's only remaining location in Connecticut. Hooters, which first opened in Cleawater, Florida in 1983, is best known for its chicken wings and scantily-clad waitresses.

The company is owned by Nord Bay Capital, a private equity firm that acquired Hooters in 2019. It's divided into two holding companies with different headquarters: Hooters of America LLC is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, while Hooters Inc. is headquartered in Clearwater, Florida. ,,,
