OpEd: "The Shipping Forecast," presented twice on weekdays on the BBC and thrice on weekends, is 100-years-old this week. It broadcasts weather forecasts for the seas that surround the British Isles. You may wonder: why don't sailors and citizens on the North and Irish Seas, and along the English Channel, just look at their iPhones for the weather? They probably do.

Mission - Deliverance (1990)

Back in the day, the group was known as Mission UK on college radio. My guess is that there may have been a name conflict with a US group. Similar to Charlatans UK.
In any case...
Lyrics excerpt ...
...
[Verse 1]
Believe in magic believe in lore legend and myth
And the hand that guides in the cunning of hope in the weaving of dreams
And the lady of the lake takes my hand and leads me
To the holy isle and the fairy rings and the circles of stone
Forever and again
[Chorus]
Give me, give me, give me, deliverance
Brother, sister, give me, give me
Deliverance, deliver me
[Verse 2]
Surrender to the wisdom of age and the spirits of time
Remember our souls entwined for eternity
And the healing hand of the fairy queen will come to all who have faith in her
And the apple tree will bear it's fruit in the gardens of Avalon
Forever and again

[Verse 1]
Wake up, kids, we got the dreamers' disease
Age fourteen, they got you down on your knees
So polite, we're busy still saying please
Frenemies, who, when you're down, ain't your friend
Every night we smash a Mercedes-Benz
First we run, and then we laugh 'til we cry
[Pre-Chorus]
But when the night is falling
You cannot find the light (Light)
You feel your dreams are dying, hold tight
[Chorus]
You've got the music in you
Don't let go, you've got the music in you
One dance left, this world is gonna pull through
Don't give up, you've got a reason to live
Can't forget, we only get what we give

Helicopter pilot who crashed in Huntington Beach was known for dramatic maneuvers
www.latimes.com
... The pilot who crashed a helicopter in Huntington Beach near a waterfront hotel on Saturday, injuring five people including himself, was known for leaning into thrills during some of his flights, according to a review of his social media.
Videos shared on pilot Eric Nixon's Instagram page showed several low-altitude maneuvers, including some that appear to come very close to vehicles and buildings. In one that appeared to promote Saturday's helicopter landing party for the Cars 'n Copters on the Coast event in the Orange County city, one of Nixon's choppers swooped in close to the rooftop lounge at Hilton's Waterfront Beach Resort " near where he later crashed.
Five people were injured when Nixon's Bell helicopter -- the type made popular by the 1980s television drama "Airwolf" -- crashed in Huntington Beach Saturday afternoon as the city readied for the car and helicopter show. ...

Missing Persons - Destination Unknown (1982)
www.youtube.com
Lyrics excerpt ...
...
[Verse 1]
Life is so strange when you don't know
How can you tell where you're going to?
You can't be sure of any situation
Something could change, and then you won't know
[Verse 2]
You ask yourself
"Where do we go from here?
It seems so all too near
Just as far beyond as I can see
I still don't know what this all means to me"
[Verse 3]
So you tell yourself
"I have nowhere to go
I don't know what to do
And I don't even know the time of day
I guess it doesn't matter anyway"
[Chorus]
Life is so strange
Destination unknown
When you don't know
Your destination
And something could change
It's unknown
And then you won't know
Destination unknown
