Doctors and other medical staff can also be barred from working at VA hospitals based on their marital status, political party affiliation or union activity, documents reviewed by the Guardian show. Turkey's Erdogan: Netanyahu 'trying to drag our region and the entire world into disaster'

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has condemned Israel's overnight attacks on Iran as a "clear provocation" which "disregards international law" and risks "setting our entire region on fire."

In a furious post on social media, Erdogan conveyed the condolences of Turkey to the "friendly and brotherly people of Iran" and issued a strong rebuke to Israel.

"Israel has taken its strategy of drowning our region, especially Gaza, in blood, tears and instability to a very dangerous stage," he wrote.

"The Netanyahu administration is trying to drag our region and the entire world into disaster with its reckless, aggressive and lawless actions."

Erdogan called on the international community to prevent further conflict, adding: "We do not want to see more blood, destruction and conflict in the Middle East."
