The Trump administration has canceled the USDA's annual food insecurity survey, ending a decades-long effort to track how many Americans struggle to access enough food, the Agriculture Department said on Saturday. The U.S. Department of Agriculture said the Household Food Security Report had become "overly politicized" and was no longer necessary, though the 2024 edition will still be released in October; the 2025 survey will not be conducted, the USDA said in a statement. The cancellation of the report, which has been conducted for 30 years, comes amid rising food insecurity and recent cuts to federal food assistance programs, including tighter work requirements for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program recipients.
Charlie Kirk was killed by a bullet that didn't create an exit wound because the late commentator is a "man of steel," according to Kirk's Turning Point USA. Kirk was shot at a "prove me wrong" event he was holding on a college campus in Utah. Police have arrested a local man by the name of Tyler Robinson. When the suspect shot Kirk, the bullet should have gone through his neck and could have even endangered others, but that's not what happened. Instead, his organization's spokesman said, Kirk was so healthy that the bullet couldn't make it all the way through to the other side.

Clashes between protesters and federal agents Friday outside the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Broadview saw an officer shove a congressional candidate to the ground, agents firing tear gas and pepper balls into crowds and multiple arrests in a tense series of confrontations over President Donald Trump's aggressive deportation campaign. The demonstrations, which began about 5 a.m. and again at 7 p.m. and lasted for hours, drew dozens to the facility in protest of the intensifying federal operations in the Chicago area. On and off throughout the day, armed ICE officers in military fatigues guarded the facility's gate, while others stood on the building's rooftop. Gregory Bovino, the Border Patrol Chief who led the federal government's recent anti-immigration operations in L.A., was at the detention center for about an hour and briefly stepped outside in the morning, backed by armed agents.
