Sinvalda Oliveira of Marlborough says she voted for Donald Trump for president in 2024 because she wanted to see a tighter border and fewer immigrants flooding into the country. But the Brazilian immigrant and naturalized U.S. citizen says she didn't expect Trump's campaign promise to remove "criminals" from the country to expand to local Brazilian construction workers, nannies and house cleaners, including one of her own friends. Now the 56-year-old longtime aesthetician says her business is floundering, many of her clients are staying home and she's worrying about the future. "If these raids keep going, we're all going to go broke," Oliveira told GBH News recently. "All the bakeries, all of the markets, we're not making enough money to pay our employees. It's crazy. But on peace deals, after mentioning the agreement he brokered between Armenia and Azerbaijan, he said: "We settled that war that was not settleable, as the expression goes. "Cambodia and Armenia, that was just starting, and it's a bad one " think of that."

The Trump administration has canceled the USDA's annual food insecurity survey, ending a decades-long effort to track how many Americans struggle to access enough food, the Agriculture Department said on Saturday. The U.S. Department of Agriculture said the Household Food Security Report had become "overly politicized" and was no longer necessary, though the 2024 edition will still be released in October; the 2025 survey will not be conducted, the USDA said in a statement. The cancellation of the report, which has been conducted for 30 years, comes amid rising food insecurity and recent cuts to federal food assistance programs, including tighter work requirements for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program recipients.
