It's hard to tell whether you guys are being serious or just trolling for S&G; just like with many of the leftists on this board. It's weirdly naive to think that no one innocent would ever get caught up in this weird type of abu ghraib perversion, or that normalizing/accepting it could never come back to haunt you or someone you care about.

The "Where's the Beef?" lady was in a hilarious R-rated comedy called "Moving Violations". I showed it to my students in China once. They learned a lot about American culture that day.

I agree with Clownshack here. A more likely explanation is that many Republicans have changed their view on whether immigration levels should be decreased because they believe Trump's policies are working, at least as far deterring a significant number of migrants from either coming the US or overstaying their visas. Which is probably true, even though the execution of those policies is OTT and adversely affecting US citizens too.
