The Wall Street Journal, citing US officials, is reporting that Trump has told his aides he is willing to end the war on Iran even if the Strait of Hormuz remains largely closed.

The WSJ reported that Trump and his aides have assessed in recent days that a mission to pry open the chokepoint would push the conflict beyond the president's timeline of four to six weeks.

Trump decided that the US should achieve its main goals of hobbling Iran's Navy and its missile stocks, and wind down the fighting, according to WSJ. The US would then pressure Iran diplomatically to resume the flow of trade and press allies in Europe and the Gulf to take the lead, it reported.

To clarify

The Senate has 2 ways to pass an appropriation like this either as a budget increase (requires 60 votes to defeat a filibuster) or through budget reconciliation (only needs 50 votes). The budget reconciliation needs the appropriation to be budget neutral (in theory-in reality chicanery is done).

Since it would be impossible to get 60 votes for this appropriation the republicans who control both houses of congress will have to cut expenditures to cover it.

Thus cut healthcare for people to pay for a war of aggression

And as a reminder, the POTUS has not bothered himself to address the nation about a war that is over a month old, nor has Congress authorized it or any spending for it nor has Congress held any hearings or meetings about it.
