The movie, Reefer Madness, was part of a propaganda campaign against marijuana in the 1930s that was initiated by the U.S. Treasury Department's Federal Bureau of Narcotics, led by its first commissioner, Harry J. Anslinger.

Anslinger found himself with little to do when Prohibition was repealed, allowing legal alcohol consumption, so he cooked up a campaign aimed at city black folks, the easiest targets.

They showed us Reefer Madness in high school "health class." Half of us had been in the parking lot before that class, if you know what I mean. Much frivolity ensued as we watched that silly movie with the crazy piano player.

One of Nashville's 100k watt FM stations, WLAC, had really interesting stuff and stories about local stuff, as you said.

Clear Channel (now iHeart) bought it and it became nonstop Limbaugh, Hannity, uber nut case Mark Levin, yuck yuck yuck.

PS - Enforcement of the Fairness Doctrine was ended during Reagan's presidency.

Thus, all the right wing echo chambers were born, the ilk of Limbaugh quoting The Washington Times (created by Sun Myung Moon so Limbaugh and other conservative mouthpieces would have a right wing newspaper to quote ala "The Washington Times reported ... blah blah blah."

I remember when the Fairness Doctrine was in place.

For example, "Crossfire," which Pat Buchanan co-hosted on CNN from 1982-1999. The show featured a political debate format with a host from the right and one from the left,

Republicans killed campaign finance laws.

Democrats didn't fight for Citizen's United, or for dark money to stay dark, or weakening guardrails to prevent billionaires from buying elections through Super PACs.

Most members of Congress are significantly wealthier than the average American. In 2013, the "poorest" members still often had substantial assets, and the primary barrier is that working-class individuals rarely run for office in the first place.

Remember when now-MAGAts claimed they were the party of "law and order?"

Yet, somehow, they excuse January 6th, unconstitutional usurping the legislative branch with tariffs, violating the Emoluments Clause, and so much more.

BTW, the Supreme Court said DACA recipients cannot be deported because they have protected status.

As you know, that's the reason MTG is resigning ... after January 5th so she can collect a pension and lifetime medical care after only 5 years. Not exactly a principled resignation for her or anyone who waits to retire until they can cash in.
