That's exactly what happens in evangelical churches. I grew up on one. "Jesus died on the cross for you" was about all we heard about Him. Paul and the OT were morning service, OT and Revelations for evening service (even the front row, who'd been there for decades, were in peril according to the preacher).

My band played a USCG facility last century, but it wasn't part of a USO tour.

That must have been fun and interesting.

Our group (5 women, 4 piece band) played all smaller installations. As few as 10, and no more than 150 or so.

The other standout gig with the USO was the UN Joint Security Area in Panmumjom, Korea, a small area in the DMZ that's split down the middle between North and South Korea. We played for most of the approx. 80 U.S. personnel stationed there. They were the best and brightest big guys in the military. We even walked inside NK in the one building where that's allowed (Trump greeted Kim Jun Un alongside it at the beginning of their short lived bromance.

This happened while much of South Korea was under marshal law due to a recent NK attack there. Very tense. First and only time I had to read about incursions and sign a "Death Waiver" in the event NKs killed or kidnapped us, both of which they'd done in the previous 2 months. Me and the guys waved and scratched our eyes with our middle fingers as the NKs shot film of us from across the street.

You're welcome. The odds of neighbor/schoolmate being there, out of 100 guys, halfway around the world, and as about as far from anywhere else on Earth as one can get, must be infinitesimal.

Diego Garcia back then was like something out of the movie "South Pacific." Rustic huts built from corrugated steel and no windows because of the 2' gap between the walls and ceiling. And a million coconut crabs infesting the jungle that Christmas night, constantly shooing them off with sticks only to have them scamper back aiming for our Achilles Heels. We walked into a clearing and one of the guys shined his flashlight across a the small rise. It looked like Woodstock for coconut crabs. So named for crushing open coconuts with their big claw.

Very memorable experience (as you might imagine)

We know the Trump administration have lowered hiring standards. That's troubling since they've gutted the DOJ (and other depts) of institutional knowledge.

Trump's DOJ would probably hire Vinnie Gambini in a heartbeat if he drank the KoolAid
